Spring portal poty thread

So Wake Forest QB, Jeremy Hecklinski is headed in to Iowa City for a visit next week.

Wake Forest redshirt freshman quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, the first day of the spring transfer window that goes through April 25.

Hecklinski appeared in one game for the Demon Deacons as a true freshman in 2024. He played three snaps against North Carolina on Nov. 16, 2024. Wake Forest had a head coaching change with Dave Clawson retiring on Dec. 16, 2024.

Hecklinski played in the 2023 All-American Bowl and is from Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. He was named 2023 GPB Georgia Offensive Player of the Year and 2023 MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year.

In 2023, Hecklinski completed 201-of-309 passing attempts for 3,835 passing yards, 50 touchdowns and six interceptions in 14 games.

During his junior season he completed 194-of-305 pass attempts, for 3,520 yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Hecklinski earned 2022 Georgia 5-AAAAA Player of the Year, 2022 Cobb County Offensive Player of the Year and 2022 11Alive Offensive Player of the Year honors.

His father, Randy Hecklinski, played quarterback at Bowling Green from 1990-95, and his uncle, Jeff Hecklinski, played quarterback at Illinois and Western Illinois.

I was very, very excited watching this guy as a true FR in the WF spring game last year. I was hoping he would be the starter over Bachmeier and Kern.

I have watched every P4 SG on tv or free streaming each year since 2018. Right at 50 every year (save for 2020). Until this year. This year it looks like it will be 10. 4 on BTN next week.

Before his commitment Wednesday (in 2022), the junior also held offers from UCF, Georgia Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Duke and Cincinnati were also interested.

“Jeremy’s the money man,” head coach Daniel Brunner told the Gwinnett Daily Post after the game. “They didn’t know the money man was coming in the building tonight and he sure rolled. That’s it. Just give him the ball. He’s the best in the state.”

Crazy to see we're hosting another QB. That coaching connection is already paying off. Curious if Lester sees something in him.

I just saw that. Looks like a nice pickup. We've had really solid snappers for a while. Iowa will be his 4th college.
Should lock that spot down really well for no drop off from Elkin. Kirk probably showed him all the long snappers Iowa has put in the league. We are long snapper U.

Long snappers don't seem important until they toss a couple over the punters head! LOL

We have safety transfer from Purude lined up for a visit. Looks like Kirk is still looking to bolster our secondary.

Reminds me of a Drew Tate… I believe he was 6’0 or 6’1 he looks quick in the pocket and definitely has an arm… you just never know as he could be awesome- time will tell but a good pickup in general for Iowa

Beyond the known visitors yet, is Iowa basically done in the portal? I didn't get a chance to listen to Kirk post practice. By the way for those in eastern Iowa Kirk is on tv tonight at 6:30pm on the show On Iowa Live which KCRG puts on their 9.2 digital channel. Dochterman is on that along with the lady who took over for Scott Saville in retirement.

Saw Borchers, from North Scott, that Iowa recruited out of high school, is portaling out of Nebby.

Kirk suggested they are not done.
