Since its the bye week and I'm trying to think about anything besides the Wisconsin game I'm just going to do the most classic thread there is and try to predict next years starters.

QB- Stanley
RB- IKM, Young
WR- Smith, ISM, Tracy
TE- Hockensen, Beyer (I think Fant goes pro)
LT- Jackson, Kallenberger
LG- Kallenberger/ Paulson's
C- Bamwart, Jenkins
RG- Paulson's (I'm guessing a three man rotation at guard)
RT- Wirfs, Plumb

DE- Epenesa, Gholston
DT- Linderbaum, Reiff
DT- Latttimore, Nixon
DE- Nelson, Simon
OLB- Niemann, Wade
MLB-Welch, Jones
WLB-Colbert, Benson
CB- Hankins, Moss
FS- Stone, Merriweather
SS- Hooker, Cradeith
CB- Brents, Ojemudia

Punter- Rasetter

OL: Jenkins is slated for OG as is Banwart, I believe. Duva seems heir apparent at C. Jenkins certainly looks like a multi-year starter at some point. What are you hearing about Plumb?

DL: Linderbaum with a starting spot is a stretch but definitely a possibility, I think Reiff gets the nod.

DB: Ojemudia is an NFL prospect in my opinion and Parker really likes him. If Brents takes a CB spot, I would guess its Hankins.

Doesn't matter as the ferentz brothers will still be here and you would still have what we had last night with Alabama's starters.

I think they are grooming Banwart to be the C and I think he is the backup this year also, due to the fact we have yet to see Duwa in any meaningful playing time. Also in the summer Jenkins was the third team center. And I am hearing nothing about Plumb just pure guessing.

Possible Bomb could leapfrog as a starter at DT, but idk. I think it's going to be Hooker and Stone at the safeties. Moss and Brents already seeing time at Corner likely significant contributors next season.

I truly think 2019 is going to be the year as we will be much more mature and more “veteran type players” but with a much more difficult schedule.. however good teams rise to the top and I believe Iowa will be one team to be reckoned with.. by no means am I throwing in the towel on this year.. the fact that hardly ANYONE goes undefeated anymore look at last years NC.. Iowa and Wisconsin have both went undefeated in 2015 and 2017 respectively it’s just too rugged especially with 9 conference games now too

I think miller is Paulsen's 2.0. He will need a few years before starting.

You take away the attrition we've had at O-line and maybe landed one or two past targets, I doubt Paulsen's ever seen the field much in their career here. I'm glad we have them but they were rated too high in high school and we'll just leave it at that. I hope you're kidding even comparing Miller to Paulsen's at all. Ezra is the highest rated OL since Jordan Walsh 2011, 3rd highest since 2005 class per composite. Wirfs got attention late didn't reflect in all the rankings. If it's going to take Miller a few years, what's it going to take for the other 6 much lower rated freshman we have next year??? Yikes!

any thoughts on if Hockenson goes pro after this year? I believe he is eligible, as he will be three years out of high school. (for what it is worth, I have it from a reliable source that TJ is turning pro early. I interpreted that information to mean after next year, not after this year, but just wondering. he had a hell of a game last night)

I bet some of them will develop quickly.

But our recruits should have some time to grow anyways. We shouldn't have to play true freshmen next year......

Depends on the year we end up having. Fant is turning into a Cris Carter type player (he just catches touchdowns), but he is definitely gonna be a higher round draft pick. If he catches fire and we actually start using him a lot more in the passing game, I could see him jumping to the pros. There are still things he does need to clean up though.

Also, I think Fant is one of those guys where if there is the prospect of a really great season next year, he will stick around for it.
