Well, time to look ahead at next years team. While young, we should be pretty athletic and some spots we haven't been in a while. I am not expecting much in terms of wins and loses but we will get up and down the court. Hopefully the coaching staff starts putting some more emphasis on defense.

1- Williams / Bohannon
2- Jok / Moss
3- Uhl / Moss / Hutton
4- Cook / Uhl / Bear
5- Wagner / Kreiner

Will we be able to get a Juco or GradTransfer at PG or C?

Redshirt canidates- Pemsel, Kreiner, JBo

I wouldn't count out Jones. He was splashing 3's in at a 45% clip before his injury. Damn, we could've use him this year.

I'm thinking

Williams/Bohannon
Moss/Ellingson/Hutton
Jok/Baer
Jones/Cook
Wagner/Uhl

Cook needs to start. 4* 6'8 power forward coming in, he should start.

I personally don't think Jones will be back that is why I left him off. He re-injured the same knee but I guess you never know.

Also, no way in hell Cook isn't starting next year; how do you think we got him to commit?

The front court will be a mystery as to what combinations they will use. Also, I would be very surprised to see Ellingson get PT over Hutton assuming he is even still on the team next year.

Starters in bold, potential combinations after:

Williams/Bohannon
Moss/Jok/Williams
Jok/Baer/Jones
Wagner/Jones/Uhl
Cook/Uhl/Wagner

That's based on a very optimistic prediction for Moss, however. Otherwise I'd slide Jok down to the 3 and start Baer/Jones.

With all due respect, Wagner and Cook at the same time with limited shooting range is like a double Woody. Not going to take or make a shot beyond 10 feet. And Uhl must develop the ability to take the ball to the basket and slam it home or hit a pull up jumper from 15 feet.. Missed layups are killers. I have not given up on Fleming making an impact. Jones is a bigger potential offensive threat and was coming along with his total awareness of Fran's style of defense. Baer and Uhl are the first two off the bench with Fleming next. Jok will need to lead.

Ellingson... Bye, bye, bye.

Williams/Bohannon
Moss/Fleming
Jok/Baer(off) /Hutton (def)
Jones/Uhl/Pemsl (Red)
Wagner/Cook (tie/battle) Kreiner (Red)

Iowa probably won't land a big man next year and Connor is a SG commit. If no one leaves in 2017, Iowa goes for a PG (Courtney Ramey, my choice) and PF/C (Cart'Are Gordon) with Weiskamp as a SF in class of 2018. I do question if Bohannon can handle the B1G level.

Yeah agree to disagree. I think Wagner can hit the 10-15 ft. shot, he just did in the tourney. And they'll have Williams, Jok, and Jones (plus Baer and Uhl off the bench) who all have very good range to hit from 3.
