I'm a moderate Republican and have always loved Colbert. I really want to like him replacing Letterman, but so far I'm pretty dissapointed.

Mainly dissapointed with his guests - I get that he's going for the 'hipster, look how smart we are' crowd - but many of his guests are just dismal for ratings. I appreciate some of the intellectual, more thought provoking people but it not a recipe for success in late night ratings wars.

Those people need to end the show, not be the first guests, and having more than one on a night is killing him.

It shouldn't be too hard to make Colbert successful, he has some of the good traits of early zany Letterman, they're just pushing a little too fast and hard on the cerebral angle - need to stick with having fun.

Arn't most of the late night guys left wingers? I honestly don't know because I don't stay up late enough to watch their shows on weekdays. Have to get sleep so that I can go to my job semi awake.

Late Night network shows are for having fun. They don't need to be educated or lectured. I never bought into the vibe that his type of subject meterial would translate to the network late night audience.

I got an IPad for Xmas last year. I've had tennis elbow all year. (I just realized, I said Xmas. Shit, I am really REALLY sick!!!!)

Have any of you actually watched his new show, or just read about it? The opening bit is a bit rough, and they do rush thru too many guests, but over all the show is very funny. If the network doesn't panic I think the show will settle in and do well.

I liked the Daily Show when Stewart was on (the new guy is terrible), I liked Wilmore before he went into "white people are the devil mode" on every single show, and I like @Midnight. Now I'm not a republican, but I'm not a democrat either.

All that being said, I never liked Colbert's show. I like him on the Daily Show, but it didn't translate over. He'll be gone soon.
