The guy is just awful in my opinion. He reminds me of a junior high class clown. Interested in what others think.

I like him

1. Conan
2. Colbert
3. Kimmel
4. Fallon (unless laughing at how bad he is, in that case he is #1)

Politics is his schtick.

He created that persona at CC and now he cannot do anything else.

Guy has never been overly funny and appeals mostly to a sect of our country that sponsors don't target. He won't be around in 3 years.

You know he said he was giving up his character when the Colbert Report ended. . .

I was only able to watch the first episode of the Late Show but it looked like the same dang thing really.

Not that I don't find it funny, it has it's moments. But it's the same thing ultimately. Just changed studios and moved to CBS.

Johnny Carson was a COMEDIAN. Colbert is a satirist.
Carson could do skits and characters. Colbert is into
politics as his first love. Carson could do a topical and
funny monolog and lasted over two decades. Colbert
will be lucky to last two years.

I don't know. Jay Leno lasted a long time. Johnny Carson has never had anyone who could compare, so comparing Colbert to Carson is rather silly.

He asks good questions, now if he'd just let them answer before asking another...

I like him. Can't stand Kimmel. Wife loves Fallon. Conan is always good for a laugh, but nothing even resembling hard-hitting there.

Johnny Carson was the gold standard. Today's choices
are counterfeit. Conan, Kimmel, Fallon, and Colbert are
collecting a paycheck and have no comedian blood in
them.

Is it because he's been doing this in some form or fashion for the previous 18 years, with his own show for a previous 9 years and his 15 minutes is over? Or, are you coming from a position of ignorance? I'll say ignorance because you've seen him fewer than 5 times AND that you're even drawing any comparison to Johnny. I was really hoping you would bring up Bob Hope or The Smothers' Brothers too. Late Night Television has changed.

Mrs. 22* is a big Fallon fan too.

I don't get it.

its unfortunate, I still find a lot of what he does funny, but enjoyed him much more before he went political.

The whole Daily Show itself was better before it became politics all the time. I don't mind if there is a mix of political humor in there, but at some point they just stopped including any stories and jokes that where not political and did not meet their liberal views.

Also never liked how they never wanted anyone to critique them the same way that they critiqued everyone else. Did nothing but politics and ripping on conservatives 24/7 but if they got the facts wrong they where always "just comedians". Maybe that line could hold true if their show wasn't all one way biased political comedy. But they gave up on comedy that doesn't just make fun of conservatives a long time ago.

I agree, I used to love the daily show too. Like Colbert, it still made me laugh from time to time but got tiresome. I think Jon Stewart realized he had an opportunity to influence a generation politically, and couldn't pass it up. Whenever he was called out for something he said, he'd simply say "it's fake news people!" and he was off the hook. He was masterful at carving that niche for himself. He could be MSNBC or The Onion depending on what he needed at the time.

You might tire of the political humor, but Colbert and Stewart were the only two on TV that produced an honest assessment of our politicians and government. What they did/do, is necessary. Love Colbert.

Fallon is aleady beating Colbert down because he is likable! Also Colbert attack Republicans 90% of the time. That turns off half your audience right aways. That is why Leno deystroyed Letterman all of those years. Micheal Jordan said it all when he said Republicans but a lot of shoes too!

A nitch audience works on Comedy Central it doesn't work on CBS. Most American's dont want politics all the time. This board is nothing like most Americans so we are a terrible group to use as a gage.

Fallon is also killing Colbert with women and young people.

Jay said a couple times that he was political but not partisan. He trashed both sides. I believe that's the way a show lasts

I'm a fan of Colbert but the first week of shows were terrible. He wasn't funny. It has gotten better since then. I really enjoy the type of people Colbert interviews. It's not all Hollywood types. I'm interested in people like Justice Stephen Breyer, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Tesla motors CEO Elon Musk, Steven King, and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick more than actors going on these shows to sell a movie.

The days of a 15 minute long monologue at the top of the show are over. I like Colbert. He has been doing a good job. He does have a political segment on every show, but he rips on Clinton as much as he does the GOP. He actually is making a conscious effort I think to not be completely one sided. The politics side of things also comes into play because so many GOP candidates are coming on to his show.

I like Fallon for the skits. I'm not too impressed with the standup part. I think he does a decent interview though.

I don't really watch the others. Just not enough time for too many funny people. Kimmel occasionally has something really funny I catch, but I kind of agree with Leno's criticism of him. He has a "mean streak" sense of humor. Some people find that funny, and I won't say I've never laughed at that stuff, but it's not something that lasts long with me. I mean, after you see people tell their kids they ate all their halloween candy so many times it makes me feel bad.

I have watched a couple of his interviews and agree that he doesn't let them answer the question. He moves onto the next question as if he isn't even listening to the guests.

He almost never hit Hillary if he does it's like for 1 of your 15 minutes!!

Funny, every time I flip on his show he's making jokes about it. Whatever.

I am disappointed and amazed really that we have 4 guys basically doing the same show with a few variations. I was hoping for something different.

The general audience doesnt want deep thinking in that slot. The old CC audience did. This audience is different. One of these guys wont be around in a few years.

Ummm....incorrect. Conan, Kimmel, and Fallon all do it.
