I'd like to start by saying that I'm a huge fan of Stoll. It is a dam shame that he has been stuck with two season ending injuries. That being said, is there anyone out there that we could pull in to compete a little better than Holloway? Or could Holloway pull an Erickson and grow into the weight in the next couple years? Thoughts?
This is only relevant if Stoll never returns to form.

I think it is relevant to Holloway whether Stoll returns or not.

i think that there is an Internet Face Mush.........

Aaron Costello is coming in next year. He is the 5th ranked Senior Heavyweight. Granted it is tough to compete as a Freshmen Heavyweight, but he at least has the size. Also, the hawks will be recruiting "over" Costello in the next couple cycles so not saving his redshirt wouldn't really matter imo.

Agree with using Costello next year. Holloway is 5ft 10ish, and Erickson was 6ft 4. He had a much bigger frame to add the weight to. Holloway is a natural 97. Would be better for the team to let him go back to 97 next year, and wilcke drop to 84, also a better weight for him and the team. I don't think Costello will do much worse than a very undersized Holloway would do. It will probably be Holloways only year as a full time starter, so might as well let him go where he can make some positive contributions to the team.

Just an option that has .000000000000001% chance of working but this year Youtsey said he was done wrestling but with injury he came back for the good of the team even though he didn't want to. Is it possible we could ask Bradley to enroll for 1 year and then he can go on with his life? I know it's a little unfair to ask of him but he did give us his commitment that he would wrestle for us. If he did it 1 year and then retired I would consider his debt more than paid for.

Completely agree. Next year Iowa is going to have to take a "rebuild" year. Now, that does not mean non-competitive as top 10 is still a lock, but top 3 is going to be difficult. Penn State loses only Guilbon and have 3 top 10 p4p guys waiting in the wings. Ohio State loses no one and have 2 top 10 p4p guys waiting in the wings.

Lee and Warner are going to redshirt. Wilke and Holloway should both go back to their natural weight classes, where I believe they both can be very competitive and be round of 12 type wrestlers. Iowa will be taking a shot at a title in 2018/2019 season with Lee, Teasdale, Happel, Kem, the Bull, young, Wilke, Warner, and Stoll leading the way. 149 is really the only question to me at this point, perhaps Turk?

Nest year tho...

125-Rathburn/Wagner
133- Rathburn/ Wagner/Glynn
141- Happel/Turk
149- Sorensen
157- Kem
165- The Bull
174- Young
184- Wilke
197- Holloway
Hvy- Costello/Stoll

Whats the probability of seeing:

125- Laux
133- Happel
141- Turk

next year?

0% Happel is not going to be at 133. That idea seems to be gaining steam around here, but Happel is more likely to be at 149 than 133. He is like 5'9" and wrestled 145 his senior year in High School.

Not even a loose connection between The Youtsey and Bradley situations.

Costello isn't likely to be ready next year. If they decide not to count on Stoll, they should be hitting the transfer circuit hard.

Wha? Holloway is 6-1.

Hopefully Stoll is ready to go in March, but Costello can get some valuable experience before hand and lighten Stoll's workload.

Costello is the 5th ranked senior HWY? Nice, I didn't know he was that well known.

So am I to believe that Holloway just took one for the team and moved up to HWT and Wilke moved up to 197, but when Holloway goes back down he is a round of 12 guy, we just let Wilke (during our one shot year) take the spot even though he hasn't cracked the top 20? Me know make sense.

I've been told that Wilcke was beating Holloway. I still don't believe it. I really wish Holloway was at 97, but i understand why they both moved up.

Last year Stoll got hurt later, and return this year. I'd guess Stoll would be back sooner next year based on that. Hopefully wearing a knee brace. Any chance for a medical?

My thoughts were that both improved this year competing up a weight (and just competing in general with a full college schedule) which will make them better next year. Also, Wilke beats Holloway, at least he was. So, yes, I do believe Wilke can be a round of 12 guy next year at 184 and Holloway could be a round of 12 guy at 197. The key words here are "next year." I do not believe Holloway would be a round of 12 guy this year at 197. I and obviously TnT believe that Wilke gives the team the best chance to score points this year.

Holloway is built, but put him next to a top-20 HWT and he looks small. 197 is the weight for himi

An extra year? Unlikely. Heck I just hope he can make it back. A man his size with 2 ACLs, not holding my breath.

His only chance at a Medical redshirt is if injuries force him to miss two post seasons, this year will be his first

Hindsight makes me wish they had held him out last year. Yes, I am sure everyone is thinking that.
He had probably wrestled too many matches last year to qualify. It's not just missing the post-season, but also a certain percentage of the season.

Agree, decision would have been close if he had not came back after that match with Gwiazdowski. There are no sure things with how the decision is made. Staying out of Big's and NCCA's would have helped. Again it is Hindsight as you would have to be planning for him to get injured again for it even to come into play. No need discussing any further, since we can't go back.

And put him next to a top 20 197 and he looks like a giant. Is it easier for him to gain 25-30 or lose 25-30? My point isn't that he's going to be a great HWT but I question 197 for him. Getting too big, IMHO. Just a guess though.
