I agree with you to a point. Don't know if you read my edited post. We just have some guys who aren't good enough on offense to be that aggressive. If you don't have to elite offense against good guys, you won't try.
I don't completely disagree with you, but it's a lose lose for the team and wrestlers. If they look for good shots and setups, we complain that they aren't taking any risks. The truth is, if we had a team of guys that went out there and shot like maniacs, we would be up in arms over all the idiotic shots our guys were taking. I simply want better wrestlers, and I think we're heading in the right direction with the talent we have coming in.Didn't see the edit, but I still feel like we have to many guys who go there with the mindset of keep it close and that a close loss is better than taking a chance. Honestly had St. John gone out and tried a throw or had wilcke tried anything and they got pinned I could live with it because hey they are at least attacking and willing to try something. The going out and doing nothing and losing 2-0 or 3-1 in a match isn't going to help us win try something a take a chance. I don't think Brands would rip a kid if they lost if they are attacking and at least trying to be aggressive, maybe I am wrong on that but they can at push the pace and take shots. being outmatched doesn't stop you from taking shots no you might not be able to finish them but at least try, don't just stand there and do nothing.

Who are these guys your referring to? I'll be in Iowa City friday for the dual and I'll ask Michael K if this is his mind set.The thought of saying that is fricking irritating.Didn't see the edit, but I still feel like we have to many guys who go there with the mindset of keep it close and that a close loss is better than taking a chance. You pull that out of your butt? Here is something for a few of you Iowa posters![]()
This is going to be the Genesis of a great thread.Phil? I always thought he was pretty solid, he hasn't put out a new album in a few years though is he making a comeback?
So I guess that's what Sorenson does when he wrestles Retherford? "Well I've never beat him and probably won't but if I keep it close who knows? Just my opinion on your post and I know you have yours also.Well let's see Wilcke, stoll, Sorenson, st. John took what 1 maybe 2 actual shot attempts? No counting the half shot fakes or the reach down and touch a leg in a half hearted attempt. Did anyone of those 4 guys look aggressive or did they look like they were wrestling to just get one shot and ride out? Clark is hurt so I don't expect him to be able to attack like he normally does. Brooks, gilman, kemerer, and carton attack and keep attacking no matter what. Meyer it seems like one match he's on the attack the next match he doesn't take a shot. So I'd say out of 10 weights you could say I'd call 3 or 4 of them wrestling a style that looks to be a keep it close style.

I know what they say about opinions, "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is perspective, not the truth.Well you know what they say about opinions. We disagree on this, doesn't really matter because at the end of the day the hawks didn't wrestle aggressively on Sunday and we saw where it got them. Hopefully they come out more aggressive on Friday as I don't really want my son's first dual in carver to be one where he watches PSU win big.
I posted a similar observation yesterday in the Clark vs Brock thread. After Brocks mysterious second take down Clark scrambles and faces Brock. Brock grabs a single and hangs on and the ref starts swiping stall counts. It appears that Brands gets the officials attention and he stops the match for the challenge. Bad timing? Not sure, but yet another mistake by this clown of a ref. Can't believe nobody caught this.
Just rewatched the Clark vs Kaid match. For those of you that have Flo, go watch it again. At 8:23 mark the ref starts the stall count on Clark. Clark is on top in merkel position going for the Oklahoma cradle.
Ref wipes the air 4 times, not 5, but 4 times. At the end of the fourth wipe, clark immediatley lets go of his headlock on Brock and goes back to the body. The ref called the 5 second stall 1 second too early. Clark beat the 5 second stall call.
Action should have continued and more than likely Clark gets his riding time.
8:23 is where the count begins. 8:27 is when the ref calls the four count and simultaneously calls the stall.
I think listening to some of Tom's post match interviews about Brooks getting out of position leads me to believe that Tom does have an issue with guys attacking when the goal for that particular match is to not give up bonus. If you get out of position against a top 10 rated college wrestler the majority of them will show you the lights. I don't think any of us are too disappointed in a guy like Wilke trying to survive against a top guy up a weight class. It's our veterans that don't seem to be gaining any aggressiveness like BS and AM that are frustrating.Didn't see the edit, but I still feel like we have to many guys who go there with the mindset of keep it close and that a close loss is better than taking a chance.
