Stroker leaving Minnesota per Tweet

Could Missouri be in the picture? I know they were one of his finalist. Lavalle is a junior.

"Man takes root at his feet, and at best he is no more than a potted plant in his house or carriage till he has established communication with the soil by the loving and magnetic touch of his soles to it." - John Burroughs

"You can always be better than your master but you can never change the fact that you were his student and he was your master! The seed must always respect for his soil! - Mehmet Murat

Just as every crop performs on its specific type of soil, and not all fishes can grow in every kind of water, so is leadership. You can’t lead where you can’t thrive; you can lead where you can survive!

Not even rich black Iowa dirt could save a Flower tainted by the dying, degraded, lost soils of Minnesota" -WildTurk

Chief... back in 2015, when he was a senior, the old man and jr. made several media comments disparaging Iowa and the coaches.
For the same reason I always relished the Meeks clan and their struggles.
IF that makes me a bad person.. so be it.

I remember back in 2015 that they made a few comments about Iowa fans booing him at Cedar Rapids saying that he faked his injury in the match against Kemerer. I believe Fredy's response was "I can't wait until my first match in Carver" or something like that. That was the extent of his smack talking on Twitter unless you can dig something up.

From what I've heard, he was involved in the scandal but not one of the 4 sellers. He's a good kid but doesn't seem fully invested in being a national champion.

That's not cool. For months, we did a great job of keeping kids names off of this board due to rumors. Somebody saw the DOB's from the arrest report and found out the names which was legit based on a police report...those were the same ones who were suspended. It's one thing to say I hear this kid is going to this place or that but to pass on the rumor he was involved in a drug thing is crap IMO. He may have been, but he may not have been.

He may have been, he may not have been. I'm simply saying I heard he was. It's not really a big deal especially when you have people on here wishing ill will against him and his family. Calm down

So you gotta throw in with the drug thing in addition to the ill will? That so much better.

I've heard the exact same as well so you're not alone. I think the report included ~12 names without DOBs so there were likely many more involved than the 4 dealers.

He's rumored to have taken drugs, that's not really a big deal. And I guarantee you that his transfer options have 100% knowledge if if he has or not. Like I said before, he's a good kid who isn't fully committed to being a national champion. I hope he finds a good spot to land at and gets a degree.

WTH is all the flower talk about? "When a flower grows, you have to water it, then put poo on it, then take it out of the ground and smack Tyler Berger with it......" Sorry, I just fell down too..

Just what I was thinking. Every wrestler wants to be compared to a flower. I'm guessing it is "Dad, WTH, a flower....?"

And yes dried cow poo, helps the plants hit a growth spurt. Too much and you burn the Sh!t out of it.

It's the same eligibility as Short. I think that's what played a part in him wanting to leave
Actually Short was/is in the same class as Brandon Sorensen. Those two wrestled a lot, shirt winning most if not all in high school.
BY has definitely acclimated to the college scene better.

There would be a two year window for Stoker if he were not able to displace Short.

UNI would be a good fit. Great coached, smaller more intimate environment where he could definitely excel (given his father stays away and let's the coaches coach)

John Meeks himself is about as nice as you can get. His old man himself was a complete JA. Not the kids fault but I understand what you mean.

Freddy has great talent, a delightful young man, and is an outstanding student. He will be an asset for any program. If he can get his MN mistake behind him- I think he'll be very productive wherever he lands. Irregardless, Freddy will be successful in his Life- and I wish him all the best.
Will always cheer for him- except for when he wrestles against the Hawks!
Go Hawks!!

if you gotta go, you gotta go. no need to trash the place on your way out. suck it up, learn from it and become a better you.

As a family dealing with the recruiting process, I can understand the desire to promote yourself to maximize a potential offer from a particular college. That would be no different than searching for a job in the business world.

What I find distasteful is said family/athlete feeling the need to somehow show bitterness toward a school/coach if they either stop recruiting you or make an offer you deem inadequate. Some families choose to make a spectacle of the process. Most keep it private, I believe.

Without going thru the archives, my recollection is that the two instances I've referenced made the recruiting process a public event and made public statements criticizing the Hawkeye wrestling program and some past and present Iowa coaches before and after committing to a school other than Iowa.

I contend you open yourself up to criticism when you do this. Message board comments or social media comments are an attempt to draw attention to yourself. When things don't pan out at the selected wrestling program... scrutiny follows.

Rant over!

The word on MO message boards is that he is gonna be a tiger?

Wasn't he at Brothers all sauced up at Big 10s last year acting like a fool? Thought I remember reading that. If so doesn't sound like he was fully committed to being all in.

Also, is it just me or does the majority of these kids with fathers being overly vocal on social media etc seem to carry more issues than others. Downey and Altons come to mind. Mr Stroker has voiced his opinion on a few occasions throwing the MN coaches under the bus with the flower comment.
It does amaze me when parents think they need to weigh in on social media regarding their kids' future. That conversation should be between you and your child ... It shouldn't be played out in social media like you are the kid's sports agent.

So he'll sit the same amount of time he would've had he stayed at Minnesota.
I haven't heard anything definitive about him headed to Mizzou, but he attended a bunch of camps there and was pretty close with coach Smith. Said at the time it was really hard to tell him he was headed to Minny.

Rumor last year was that Lavallee was cutting to 149 but Mayes moved up there. If Lavallee moves down next year, it would be possible for Stroker to fit in the lineup.

I imagine there is a plan in place for a transfer. I think ISU and SDSU are out for coaching reasons. Out and up! I don't think he goes without an assurance that he leads for a spot at 157.
He''s going to look silly sitting for a year or two, otherwise.

Would his intention be to compete this season? It would be possible to enroll that fast if he already had something lined up.

His year is done outside of potentially opens. Would have three seasons remaining. Unless he went BIG then two after sitting a year.

My guess is Asu. Zeke has a pretty good young team, seems to do decent getting transfers in, and it was originally one of strokers final choices.
