Okay, so I was bored and watching old Hawkeye highlights and ran across the 2009 UNI 'blocked FG's' game.

I can't remember why the clock stopped when UNI recovered the football after their 1st kick. It was 1st down and the 1st blocked kick didn't make it past the line of scrimmage, so wouldn't the clock continue to run?

Does the clock stop when its recovered by either team? or did UNI call time out?

I think I remember reading 6 years ago that it should have continued running. There were many including me that didn't even know that was a rule that as long as the ball don't cross the LOS the kicking team can recover it. I don't think the refs even realized it and thats why they blew the whistle.

Another example of an obvious rule change needed: when foot hits ball, possession changes, regardless of what happens on rest of play (unless defending team picks up ball and then fumbles).
