My wife's friend's daughter got her hair pulled and punch in the face by a bully. Her daughter got suspended til after Thanksgiving break cause she punched the bully 2 times trying to get her to let go of her hair.

Does it occur to anyone making up these rules that bullies probably care less about suspensions than their targets and they thus make it easier for bullies.

Can't believe they still use those policies.

What's amazing is I have never heard anyone who thought these policies were a good idea, yet they keep getting implemented?

Only thing I can figure is that it just makes it easier for school officials. They don't have to investigate who started it or anything. Just suspend them both.
Yep, cowards don't want to do their jobs.

I thing we're missing something here.

Don't want to have the bully feel like they are being signaled out! In all seriousness, honestly I think it is because the Administrators are too afraid to single out any punishment these days for threat of lawsuits, so why not show they treated each person equally (I wouldn't blame the bullied kids parents here if they decided to act towards the school). There is always someone who will make a stink and create too many problems. Certainly not fair to the kid and i don't really have anything to back up my assumption; but seems more and more, this is what happens

This isn’t a new thing. It happened at the school where I taught. The kid being bullied was kicked out.

He fought back and bit one of the bullies. The bullies weren’t kicked out. The head of the school made the decision.

The bullies’ parents had more money.

Simple abdication of responsibility,.. nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore.
