schedule looks like very few places for makeup games. As season goes on it will be challenging for any more.

I can see us having to select a conference champion based on win percentage,.. This could set the stage for some questionable postponement opportunities going forward...

Also, Sunday March 7 vs Wisconsin is the final regular season conference game for Iowa.

The B1G Tournament would normally start Wed March 10 and run thru Sunday March 14.

Will the B1G Tournament be canceled and Mon March 8 - Sunday March 14 be used to play the reg season games that got postponed?

Playing makeup games in place of the tournament makes sense...
I think the B1G just takes this one day at a time & if more games get postponed, the more likely the B1G Tournament is canceled & the automatic bid then goes to the regular season champion.

I could see them making a game up on February 15 or 16 and also one February 24 or 25. Then again maybe not, I didn't even think to look at the other team's schedules.

I updated the orig post with this: Wisconsin's postponed game at Penn State (13th place in B1G) has been rescheduled for Jan 27.

The automatic bid for the BTT doesn't really matter. There's only been one team in the 20+ year of the BTT's existence that won the automatic bid and wouldn't have made the tourney as an at large without the tournament, 2001 Iowa.

Take that week, pull all of the teams to the tournament location, and play the missed games back to back to back. The winning teams in the tournament would be playing 3-5 games consecutive anyway, so it isn't like it is much of a difference. Any team that has an outbreak and can't play the games takes a forfeit with a victory to the other team.

There needs to be some clarification for the time & date for the Iowa vs Northwestern
game. There are currently 3 different time listed. Which one is correct?

Clearly the gap between feb 21 and feb 28 present the best opportunity for a makeup game. If MSU is our only glitch we will be ok.

Note that MSU's next 2 games, vs Iowa & IU, are postponed.

But, Feb 23 would perhaps work.

Also, maybe on March 2nd Iowa could play at Mich State and then Iowa could stay in the state of Michigan & play its regularly scheduled game at Michigan on March 4. But, that's 3 consecutive road games (at OSU on Feb 28) in 5 days for the Hawks.

MSU's scheduled games between Feb 20 & end of season:
Feb 20 at IU
Feb 25 vs OSU
Feb 28 at MD
March 7 vs Michigan

Iowa's scheduled games between Feb 20 & end of season:
Feb 21 vs Penn State (current covid issues)

Feb 28 at Ohio State
March 4 at Michigan
March 7 vs Wisconsin

Here is a really good article where ESPN writers discuss who's gonna win the B1G.

They all seem to like Michigan, especially after they throttled Wisconsin. Iowa & Illinois are the only other 2 contenders, in their opinions.

A big deal, of course, is that Michigan only plays Illinois and Iowa ONCE (both games in Ann Arbor!) and they do not face them until Feb. 11 and March 4, respectively.

It seems like teams can just take a pass whenever they want.

If MSU really only has 2 players test positive they should either have to play or forfeit.

There should be some kind of standard threshold for postponement. X percentage of players available the game goes on.

Iowa shouldn't be penalized in any way due to MSU's inability to keep their players safe. The virus didn't sneak up on anyone. I coming around to the point of view that cancellations should be forfeits.

This was my position last summer during the MLB season,... postponed games that aren't made up should become forfeits...

IU & Michigan State were supposed to play this Sunday at 11 am on CBS (replaced by Iowa at N'w, of course).

See tweet below. IU is trying to figure out when they could make up the MSU game, just like Iowa is.

What a freakin mess.

Is Tom planning on fielding a team at all for the rest of the season and sliding into the NCAA on his reputation?
