Summit League Championship

Got that backwards - SDSU (#4) beat USD (#1).

Side note - Trey Dickerson had a couple of nice moments for USD, but not a ton of minutes.

It's too bad, I would've liked to have seen USD get the auto bid to the NCAA's - I think they could've given their high seed first round opponent a good scare. Mooney is the real deal for them.

It would be interesting how the committee chooses to view Iowa's loss to UNO if they win their tournament. Is it still a bad loss (or maybe not as bad) if the team makes the field?

Not as bad. RPI still matters but it is considered regardless of their seed in the tournament. Now we just need Memphis to win the AAC ;)

I read someplace that UNO would still have a plus 100 rpi, so technically still bad.

It certainly can't hurt perception especially if it's between Iowa and a very similar team with bad losses that aren't tournament teams.

Omaha has better talent than their record would indicate. Treshawn Thurman, Tra-deon Holland and Marcus Tyus are all experienced, solid players. Iowa is the better team, but of mid-majors to upset us this year, I'm not surprised that Omaha was the one to do it.

Providence is in with losses to DePaul, BC and St. John's. Marquette is in with losses to Georgetown and St. John's. Syracuse is in with losses to BC and St. John's. Vanderbilt is in with losses to Bucknell and Middle TN State. Vandy has 17 wins. BC has beaten two of these teams and has 9 total wins I believe.

Makes perfect sense. Just don't lose to UNO if you want to make the tournament. Lose to countless other crappy teams and all is forgiven. Granted, I am biased, but I would think the NCAA would recognize that the loss was early in the season + Iowa's youth. They talk about every other "situation" when it pertains to other teams (injuries, loss of key player, someone arrested, etc.). The Memphis loss gets thrown out too. OK, they are not good...lost by 41 last night, but they are traditionally a top 40 program.

I am not saying Iowa is a lock, but I am struggling to understand why we are barely in the conversation relative to other teams with equal / inferior records.

I think the committee does realize that. For all we know Iowa could be higher up on the board than what Lunardi and Palm or any other pundit projects.

UNO is just a straight shooter with upper management potential.

I heard the hoopshd guy mention their tournament run works in Iowa's favor, and that losing to Illinois twice is actually the worst stat at this point. He has Iowa in the 1 slot of the last 4 out right now, ready to slip in over the Illinois State type teams that are still listed as in, depending on what they do in the tournament.

Don't forget that Vandy 2-3weeks ago got woodshedded by RPI#259 Missouri!! Game ended up 20pt loss, but it wasn't that close!!!

Well we already know what Illinois State did. How they are even mentioned is beyond me.

Why do teams insist on holding for a desperation 28 ft 3 every time at end of games.

Not sure why you don't drive hard to the rim there and make the defense collapse so you can get fouled, get a good shot, or kick it to a shooter for an inside out three if the defense collapses.

SDSU is a one-man team. I thought Omaha was the better team overall.

Came way from that pretty impressed and don't feel quite as bad about Iowa losing to them. Even though it should never happen.

I am actually glad thatUNO lost. I don't want our team thinking anyone else is coming along to help them get into the tournament. I want them to have the mindset that there is NO HELP COMING from anywhere other than other 12 players around them, and if they are to get into the tournament, it is 100% on each of their efforts and teamwork and execution.

They need to understand that it doesn't matter who beats who in any other conference tournament, but if we give each game we play the maximum effort, we will write our own ticket and not be dependent on anyone else!

One game at a time and first up: How do we stop Thomas Bryant?

Hes a beast they and they were ON FIRE against OSU.. They got 64% from three in the first half.. Let's hope that was a mirage and not the start of a trend like it has been for the Hawkeyes..
