Sunday, July 24 PTL

Moss
Pemsl
Kriener
Cook
Bohannon
Dailey

We've head of the Fab 5... how about our Sensational Six!

Really like the youth of this team, a lot of young talent.

What Hawkeyes are playing for PTL Championship?

First game Cooks team took on Gatens. Gatens team really struggled on offense today. I've watched Uhl the last two weeks and he is frustrating. Keeps shooting the ball despite not knocking it down. Last week he got it going, this week he did not. He had a rough defensive assignment with cook. Brady moved better without the ball today but he was still not much of a factor.

On the other side Cook played really well. Shot really well from outside today and had a few big dunks. Dailey was a bit more assertive today and also shot better outside. As I said last week he will need to get stronger but has a nice feel for the game. Doesn't force anything. Both seem like really nice kids.

Second game had pemsl and kriener lohaus team against wagners team. Wagners team also struggled on offense a bit. Was really impressed with pemsl today. Thought he outplayed Wagner who was matched up against him a good portion of the time. Hes definitely put on muscle since the high school season and looked much quicker to me than he did.

Kriener was better than I expected. He needs to add strength which is common for a young big man. For some reason he decided to fade away once or twice on midrange shots. Go up hard big man!! Had a few dunks including a 360. Hit several outside shots. That was the good. The bad...maybe the biggest guy on the court stands out but I saw a little of the bad rumors that had been out there around him. At one point with his team up late in the second half he dribbled the ball up the court and his own team was telling him to slow it down, hold it, etc. he ignored them, clumsily dribbled through the crowd and put down a dunk. A few teammate reactions were telling about how they felt.

Guys that can dunk in traffic are A OK!

The biggest complaint about Kriener is that he drove through traffic and threw it down? Things must be on the way up for Iowa after the past 4 seasons of complaints being that the 7 footer never dunked.

I was at the game, and how it was reported here is inaccurate. There was over 3 minutes left in the game. Kriener's team had been up by over 20 and the lead had shrunk to 10. Kriener got the rebound and took of with the dribble. You could hear a guard say hold it up, it look like Kriener was going to jump stop past the half court line and hand it to the guard. That part did look awkward, but Kriener alertly noticed that the defense had gotten out of position as they were trying to press. Kriener took two hard dribbles and flushed it thru. The look on people's faces was more confusion on what had just happened and how did this big guy just get thru for an easy dunk. Cook and Daily, who were watching the game from the bench quickly stood up and saluted Kriener. They were laughing and having a good time about it. The game was still in doubt and it was a heads up play.
