Support for Jeremiah Moody

Most of you know that former Hawk and current HWC athlete, Jeremiah Moody, is undergoing chemotherapy for stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma. You also know that Iowa fans support their athletes like no fan base on earth. We stepped up for Brandon Sorensen with a Go Fund Me drive and a bandanna sale. There was even a bandanna night when fans and wrestlers wore their Sorensen bandannas.

We’ve done a Go Fund Me for Jeremiah; time for phase 2…. Iowa wrestling legend Mark Ironside has come through again, like he did for the Sorensen bandannas, and produced a really cool shirt design for Jeremiah. The hope is that most, if not all, jumpers at the Arctic Plunge will wear them, and hopefully thousands of fans will do the same. No word yet on whether an upcoming home meet will be designated for fans to wear their Moody gear.

Very kind of you, BELDEEN, but all credit goes to Mark Ironside, who isn’t only an Iowa wrestling legend — he’s a super guy. He took the idea and ran with it. Did ALL of the work. And I doubt he’ll make a dime. He just wants to help. Good stuff.

Not sure why, but the Organizer has disabled new donations to this site. They had raised $27,875 over 3 months and it looks like they were raising money to cover what insurance did not cover. Maybe they reached their goal.

WDM did a great job with this.
I figure an update about Moody is appropriate since this is an awareness thread. He's over half way done with treatment. He has about 2 1/2 months left and has as positive of attitude as ever. I hope we see a lot of Moody tshirts at the plunge and in Carver. Moody is still around the room a lot. Brandon is also doing great. He's on the mat and looks as fit as ever.
edit: It looks like Mark has an update also. I Just ordered my shirts and saw that.

I've been looking into this. Indeed, the Go Fund Me is no longer accepting donations. Venmo should work -- I'm waiting to hear back and will let you all know as soon as I do.

Just by way of update on a potential “Moody Night” at an upcoming home meet, the shirts unfortunately won’t be ready soon enough in large enough numbers for that. We can still make a huge show of support for Jeremiah.

Wanted to bump this thread. The online store for Moody t-shirts is still open. Most of you probably saw our guys wearing them at the PSU meet. All of the guys on the team received them. Some jumpers were sporting Moody shirts at the Plunge, too, as was Jeremiah, himself.

Had a nice chat with Jeremiah at the Plunge. What a super young man. He’s halfway through his chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s no walk in the park but he has a fantastic attitude and is doing well.

Shirt sales started off great but have slowed as expected. Let’s give Jeremiah another surge in sales — proceeds go directly to him. I’m buying several more. It’s a sweet design, and these shirts could make a great gift for any Iowa wrestling fan, or any wrestling fan in general.

EDIT: If you weren’t aware of the Moody shirts and/or the story behind them and decide do buy one or more, great. If you’ve already bought some and decide to buy more, also fantastic. Whether or not you get any, you could also help by spreading the word on your social media so that others might be made aware and might get some shirts and/or pass it on.
