Suriano vs Gilman?

Suriano is tough, and huge. Wtf are these psu guys supplementing with? Not a lot of 19 year olds built liken that.

I don't see Dance beating Suriano if they are in fact the #2 and #3 seed

i agree with dance not beating soriano. Dance is slick, but wont be able to handle Suriano's pass and will break him in the 3rd. I do expect Gilman to keep attacking the whole match next time they wrestle. I think Nick would have had a better chance to take Gilman down with a single leg, but he kept going for that double.

Very few grow like those boys and remain competitive. I can only think of Borschel that made that kind of jump and remained top notch

Soriano backed up most of the first two periods. He balled up on bottom. He is tough but did not wrestle a open match. Give Gilman crap but Soriano did not wrestle an offensive match either.

Ok. Got the name wrong. Sorry.
Not impressed with PSU tonight either.
Lots of uncalled stalling.

I don't think either guy was more than 2 feet out of the center circle the entire match.

Though I don't put TOO much blame on the ref for swallowing his whistle considering the match up, Retheford could have, and probably should have, been dinged 2 or 3 different times in OT.
I agree - but would you like to be the Ref that called out Zain - and told him he lost because he stalled whilst Carl's head was exploding?

Suriano didn't want to tie up at all with Gilman. The one time they did, Gilman got his takedown. A lot of fingers to the face and arms length taps but you could tell Suriano wants to shoot from distance.

I am impressed by what I have seen of Suriano. With that said, I don't see him breaking any of the top 25'ers if he is only going to take one shot a match. You don't break people wrestling defensively. It just doesn't work that way.

True, but Gilman didn't make much effort to crowd him either.

I think his eye poking trick is going to wear pretty thin - pretty damn quick.

Wow. I'm a little surprised at all the knocks on Suriano by such knowledgeable fans after that match. Suriano, a true freshman, went toe to toe with the 5th year senior on the road in CHA. Sure, I would have liked Suriano to get to his offense more before the third period, but I don't think you could describe him as backing up at all. Great match, IMO, and I look forward to them meeting twice more this year.

Even though I expected Gilman to win, I thought Gilman would win 6-3 or something like that. I'll admit I was quite nervous going into the 3rd period, the conditions were perfect for Suriano to steal one at the end. I fully expect Suriano to face him in the B1G finals again, and possibly NCAA finals. He is no worse than 3rd at NCAAs, with Dance as the only other I see who could knock him off.

Not doubt he is a talent but he did back up a ton. Stiff arm/hips back for a lot of the match. He didn't get offensive until the 3rd. To me, it looked like he was wrestling to keep it close rather than win.
