Swatting Prison Sentence: 3 years is not enough

For just swatting, 3 years is light, but 10-15 is too much. 5-10 feels right with kickers for anyone injured during the process. Plus fines for damages.

For this specific asshat, since he did it so many times, set up an entertainment aspect, he DEFINITELY needs to get more time. And I hope once he serves his time in the US, he gets a compare / contrast to Canadian prisons since he committed crimes in both countries.

Swatting someone should be an immediate attempted murder charge at minimum.

It's more of reckless endangerment since there isn't the obvious intent for them to be killed but you are certainly creating a situation where they could be killed or harmed very easily.

Is this implying that cops go in with the intent to kill?
I think it’s more about them arriving with the ability to kill and the idea in their heads that a violent perpetrator is inside, as opposed to sending the pizza guy to someone’s house.
I couldn’t stretch that into attempted murder.

Right, I get that they have the capability to kill. But a good swat team should be able to go in there and recognize it's not a threat and not kill.

Look, I'm not saying that SWATTING is okay. I think 3 years is enough time for someone to think about what they've done. They're a convict for life after that.

I think attempted murder seems a little excessive.

What if you get the not so good SWAT team?,... not everybody is valedictorian.

Agreed, but by the looks of him, it's going to be a rough 3 years

Perhaps this is true, I just think the act is so vile that maximum penalty needs to be applied from others doing the same thing.

We will have to agree to disagree on the penalty severance. I don't think it should be a life sentence, but it also should be strict enough to deter anyone else from doing the same. 5 to 10 years wouldn't be unfair imo

I don't expect much rehabilitation for this young man. He certainly has a drive for his passion.

I would say all reckless endangerment should be punished more. I wouldn't leave it to just swatting.

The sentence needs to be longer based on his actions and the number of occurrences. Additionally, a restitution component needs to be added for anyone who can prove a financial loss based on this guy's actions.

Non violent criminals should be picking up litter during the day. Doesn’t take a job from anybody and improves the area.
