Tadjo

If he can't get minutes on this team against a D2 team, he's not going to see the floor much at all this year.
That may be the case, and he could redshirt perhaps. Just an indication of how raw he was coming in and how deep the team is.

One injury could change that however. A bit surprised that Mulvey and Brauns played ahead of him as I thought he at least might get minutes as a backup Center. Hopefully he's understanding of the situation.

Again, one could see this possibility looking at his HS tape if you looked past the dunks. He has good potential but not NBA potential in my eyes. On3's high ranking was based on his NBA potential apparently.

Did not see his name on the box score. Is he hurt? What gives?

This was discussed in the game thread.

3 things:

(1) I think it's partly a development thing. Fran on Chris Tadjo on Oct 7:

"He's such an incredibly hard worker, but he's really hard on himself. We're [the coaches] trying to be patient with him."

(2) The game was closer than expected and Carter & Riley only got into the game at the very end.

(3) And when it came to Chris, as you can see below, Chris wasn't going to play a lot of minutes no matter what. Chris, to put it simply, is not in the top 10 of the rotation at the moment.

Up 20 points and you don't play him? I'll guarantee if Patrick was on the bench as a freshman he wouldn't forget to play himo. Mulvey, Brauns and Kingsbury all played? Sad how he wastes schollies, not to mention they all are getting NIL from the pool, I would imagine.

Patrick is no longer on the team and you can't even leave that alone?

And if Fran plays more than 10 players once the B1G season begins, you will be bitching about that, too.

Fran basically played 10 players; Riley & Chris only got into the game at the very end.

Most people know that any football, MBB or WBB player (including Chris) will get NIL if they do volunteer work. So, why are you bitching about this, too?

This was an exhibition game, would not of counted towards redshirting.

Pour some bourbon.

You and I finally agree on something.

Riley, Mulvey and Brauns should be getting coffee money from the NIL. To not get him in an exhibition game because “it’s close” is ridiculous.

You telling Brad Heinrichs, the SWARM CEO, how he should run SWARM in terms of who gets paid is both ridiculous and beyond stupid.

All of the bitching in regards to who played how many minutes in an exhibition game that doesn't count is also ridiculous.

I don’t disagree, but my point is some folks need to chill out a bit.

For some reason Franisdaman has been picking fights with quite a few people lately. I’m not saying I can’t be a dick once in a while, but I don’t ever make it personal.

So aren’t exhibition games your chance to see what some of your new guys can do? Thus the the name exhibition since it doesn’t count? But I’ll digress since you’re the coach.

Not picking fights at all; just pointing out the obvious.

It seems like you are trying to pick a fight with me; the question is, why?

The fact that Mulvey got one minute of playing time in an exhibition game tells me that he still does not figure into the Hawk's plans this season. Too bad. He's listed as a RS Junior. If I were him and didn't just want to hang around IC, I think I would be looking at the portal with the goal of finding a spot where I could actually play. Obviously it won't be for McCaffery here at Iowa.

This, like he should be in the portal today!

I was really hoping that this so called 3 star, with his size, would eventually become an asset and a competent back up.

This is his 4th year in college; he played 1 minute vs UM-D.

Well its a message board and we have an Amendment guaranteeing free speech---seems like you are against that.

It Tadjo is going to redshirt, this would have been a game to give him PT. Fran never failed to get his boys their PT and made sure there was always at least one, if not two on the court. So his memory is selective.

If Tadjo is so rough and unskilled that he isn't worthy of any PT just for strategic reasons of keeping him engaged and happy to
be at Iowa than maybe he is a recruiting bust. Time will tell.....Mulvey has been a bust so far and Fran has had hard time remembering to play him.

My take is this is probably a 10 conferce win type team. Maybe a little better, maybe a little worse. Basically a typical Fran team.

Exactly. It’s a ridiculous take by him.

I realize that, just saying that if they planned on redshirting him it would affect the minutes they’d plan for him.

Even though this was an exhibition, I can see why Fran is focusing on his 10 main players and on the 3 newcomers who will play when it counts, where he gets a rotation established.

Breaking down the 13 on scholarship:

3 likely won't play much/if at all:
Tadjo
Mulvey
Kingsbury

10 likely in the main rotation:

3 newcomers
Koch
Thelwell
Traore

7 returning players
Harding
Dix
Payton
Dembele
Owen
Brauns
Pryce
