If this is what schools need to do to be compliant with this shit law, it's disgusting.

Teachers in Orange County, Florida are being told to scrape rainbow stickers off doors and windows, take photos of their families off their desks if they have a same-sex spouse, and are being directed to report if a student comes out as LGBTQ, as Governor Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" law goes into effect July 1, according to a teachers' organization.

Attorneys for the district held meetings with administrators last week, and "advised principals what behaviors would and would not be legal under the law during a 'Camp Legal' presentation," ABC affiliate WFTV reports.

The Orange County Teachers' Association (CTA) says teachers are also being told they cannot wear rainbows on their clothing, "including lanyards distributed by the district last year." Elementary school teachers are also being told to not even discuss their families if they have a same-sex spouse.

And you guys said the GOP doesn't do enough to protect kids!.

I mean they've banned books, they can't learn about certain parts of history, and now they can't say certain words! It's not like they can really do any more to protect innocent lives in schools.

If it wasn't for Christianity there would be no opposition to freedom.

There's no "don't Say Gay Law"

Anyone taking pictures of their spouse off their desk, or rainbow stickers off the wall, doesn't understand the mischaracterized law.

It about curriculum. If teachers would all stick to that concept, there wouldn't even be a discussion, much less the need for a law.

It's sad that people here continue to perpetuate lies.

There was no need for this "law". PERIOD

If hetero couples don't need to remove pictures of their spouses then it really is a don't 'say' gay bill.

The law could or could not be interpreted this way. I'm guessing most teachers don't want to find out by dealing with some Karen suing them.

The problem is that the legislature chose to make this into a civil matter instead of directing the board of education to clarify about what should and should not be taught.

There is a reason for this. The biggest one was to win culture war points. The other one was to scare homosexual teachers.

This wasn't good faith governance. It just wasn't.

It could or could not be interpreted that way. Of course the problem is that any gay teacher has to be likely planning for the most strict interpretation because you know some Karen with an axe to grind would be out to sue them.

There's a don't discuss sexual orientation law. Semantics.

This law is extremely discriminatory but with the Ayatollah Tribunal in Washington intent on rolling back many of our rights it, unfortunately, won't be overturned.
Your posts have become more and more desperately dumb.

Raw Story. 😂
Here is the story from a local news station:

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Representatives for Orange County teachers sounded alarm bells Monday after word spread from principals that Orange County Public Schools would impose strict restrictions on classroom behavior after Florida’s new Parental Rights in Education law, a.k.a the “Don’t Say Gay” law, took effect.

In private, administrators-only seminars last week, OCPS attorneys advised principals what behaviors would and would not be legal under the law during a “Camp Legal” presentation.

According to representatives of the county’s teacher association, teachers and staff members will be disallowed from wearing rainbow articles of clothing, including lanyards distributed by the district last year. Elementary-level teachers reported being discouraged from putting pictures of their same-sex spouse on their desk or talking about them to students.

During the presentation, administrators posed hypothetical scenarios based upon the new statutes and verbal answers were provided based on the limited guidance from the Florida Department of Education,” the spokesman wrote. “Once further guidance is received from the Florida Department of Education, the district will provide formal guidance to administrators and staff.

The video in the link also stated they error on the side of caution in those meetings. Much more transparent than Raw Story.

True, but still concerning that LGBTQ are being asked to remove pictures of their spouses when the same is not being asked of heterosexual teachers.

Unless my teacher is Ben Franklin or Harriet Tubman, I really don't care to know anything about his/her personal life.

And what is this need of a teacher to chat up students about his/her personal life? Odd. Never happened in my K-12 years ... and I'm just swell!

If parents had paid attention to the curriculum in the first place this wouldn't be necessary.
