Team Showed Heart . . . .

I totally disagree if the thread title is sincere. A really weak effort... If PSU didn't choke, this would have been a run-away game...

We made it close. Nice job boys!!!

It’s just a rebuild year better settle in.
We're settling into a perennial bottom feeder I fear. We're in a deep trouble unless we score big time recruits in the portal next year. I like next year's recruits - especially Freeman and LD. Pryce is a higher rated recruit than Payton.

Regardless, we need a lot more unless we score big in the portal.

For all intents and purposes Pryce looks to be the better of the two brothers.

But as it stands right now, I want fewer Sandforts on the team than more.

If this is a rebuild year, what the hell is next year supposed to be when Kris and Filip (our 2 best players) leave?

The incoming freshman should be good eventually. But I don't think anyone expects them to be serious ballers immediately.
The hope is that Fran accepts the new reality of free agency now that he has the swarm.

Fran needs to go, he's not the answer. Isn't it obvious by now?

First, Barta needs to be sent the memo to stop giving Fran pay raises and multi year extensions.
Next Barta has to be given memo that there is a reason there is anti-Nepotism hiring rule at the University.
I'm pretty sure we see Connor as grad assistant next year......Fran will then be using the KF playbook..farm out Connor as coaching assistant to some Buddy and then bring him back as assistant at Iowa.
That would make a number of sunshine boys on this board happy---the more McCaffery's in the progam, the better with those guys.

I think We have a 4-year count down to a new coach, assuming we've already seen peak Fran and
the lack of portal/NIL success translates into insufficient talent to continue to be a 51% win rate B1G coach.
Most of Fran's >.500 win percentage in B1G play can be attributed to consistently beating Nebraska, Penn State, and Rutgers with a better than average win rate vs minnesota and NW mixed in. We're 0-2 vs Nebraska and Penn State..doesn't bode well for this year at very least.

Yep, PSU didn't play like ass in the second half, just had some shots not drop.

What a shame Murray, the man responsible for the comeback, couldn't get the ball for a game winning attempt. Ugh, Iowas guards. Guess Perkins made a couple plays, just not the simple pass at the end.

What some fans thought after Luka graduated is irrelevant to the fact next year’s Iowa squad will have major deficiencies with what will be leaving and that which will be coming in.
We will have more depth….we bring in an outstanding scorer/shooter, we add size to the front line……and it’s certainly possible that Fran gets someone in the transfer portal.

Most of the roster will be a year older, stronger, and have more time spent on development.

However, to the point of the year after Luka leaving and it’s relevance…the relevance is that most thought after the National Player of the Year left, we would be a worse team. Just like what you’re saying, right?

In this current climate of transfers and NIL…. Predictions about next year’s team are just guesswork.

Unless there are unforeseen additions in the portal after the season, Iowa will be worse next year.
I can't imagine a scenario, with the swarm in place, that Fran doesn't get at least two transfers.

It would be completely insane not to.

He tried to this year but he didn't have money to pay them. Now he does.

I expect at least one of Ogundele or Mulvey to be gone. Hopefully both.

There will not be more depth on the front line with Rebraca and Kris leaving.

I would feel better if it looked like we were actually rebuilding towards something. Next year looks worse....someone talk me off a ledge
Better get used to that ledge you're on. In case you forgot, last year was the rebuild year according to a bunch of posters on here. They're going to find out what a real rebuild looks like this year and next

I'm comfortable with a 4 year countdown assuming Fran doesn't lose portal recruits because the lack of nil. I think we lost 2 portal players because of that for this season.

Pryce Sandfort can play the 3, Ladji can play the 4/5, Freeman the 4/5, then Patrick and Payton. Possibly a portal guy or two depending on what Josh/Riley do…….and I’m not predicting it, but one of those two could become contributors. My guess is that neither will but we’ll have to wait and see.
