Purdue - 9x
Indiana - 10
Ohio State - 7
Wisconsin - 5

This is, of course, shocking information. I guess the Iowa basketball program is not very good.

So our your numbers correct, or are Raptors, cause he has Purdue winning it outright 10 times and you have Purdue winning 9 times including shared titles. Same thing with MI St 11 vs 12. Just wondering?

So less than 15% of D1 teams are in this group? Not surprised. And most of those teams have since fired the coach(es) who got them there.

Wow. Crazy, and inexcusable.

I was going off wiki. And to be fair, I had a couple pops.

So I’d say it’s close either way

I would blame Barta for the relative lack of hoops success, and he certainly hasn’t done much to help the situation (he best watch himself now, Wilson seems to have a reputation for not putting up with much). But truly this issue runs deeper than a mediocre AD, since it’s been 40+ years since Iowa last reached the FF and won a regular season title. There are programs far more disadvantaged than Iowa that have experienced more hoops success since then. Iowa can’t use the “football school” excuse because even though Iowa has certainly been better at football than basketball, it still hasn’t even made a playoff berth yet, let alone win the whole ball of wax.

Simply put, Iowa doesn’t have the level of commitment to putting forth anything more than a “competitive” basketball team in the gym. While I respect the fact that Iowa runs a much cleaner program than most, “clean” rarely gets anyone squat. They are going to have to get a little underhanded if they are going to win anything of significance and that’s just the way it is

Speaking of Wilson...Does anyone know what her attitude toward sports achievement is? Is she a sports fan who demands results for the money spent on athletics? Or will she be more hands off and let Barta do his thing?

How many of these programs do you know for sure run dirty programs? Are you 100 percent positive without a doubt Iowa is always clean?
The Legend says no. No proof just words on a computer, good enough for me ;)

You don't really believe that, do you?
I guess I was thinking that a lot of those coaches are gone, but probably a good share moved on on their own account, probably for greener pastures. But some were canned. More than probably should have been.

Whatever. They may not be listed but I am pretty sure they both played in a FINAL four and the fans that followed them there had a great time.
Awww, you can't have a good time because Iowa wasn't in the FF.
Well it must be time to follow another team you can find time to bash.

This^^, isn't obvious that cheating is the only way to be successful.

I was bored, soooooo...... (some situations aren't cut and dry, but if someone was forced out I tried to make sure and put that person in the "Fired" category)...I think it was 17/71 that took their team to the Final Four and then were fired from that school. I loved doing this...such a great trip down memory lane on a lot of these names and school.

Davis was pretty much forced out at IU: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/news/story?id=2333026

So 17 out of 49 schools fired coaches who took them to the Final Four. Less than I would have thought but still a high number, > a third.
