If you credit Garza with that(I do) he drew 7 fouls the first 5.5 minutes of the 2nd half! Pretty crazy to think about. Even more crazy is there could have been another!

They tried to swallow their whistles for a bit. But Garza is shoved and bear hugged every time he gets the ball. It was criminal that the refs basically allowed 3 fouls on him before calling the 4th.
Juwan Howard was complaining about the FT advantage for Iowa after the game. Watch the freaking tape, you'll see that we shot more FTs for good reason.

Garza lost a contact and a bloody nose. Evelyn had to leave with blood on him. It was physical.
Michigan probably took 80% jump shots, whereas Iowa got the ball to Garza or Kriener ir they drove to the bucket. The aggressive team got fouled, plain and simple.
That and when Michigan did drive we typically just try to go vertical and alter the shot instead of truly going for the block.
It worked for Nebraska. It was also a day where the officials didn't even call the 4th, 5th, 20th foul.
The beauty of what Garza does on the block is he doesn't "bang" with his shoulders. That a lone is enough for an official not to call an offensive foul. Example, Michigan had at least two charges last night where they tried to "bang" on the block by lowering their shoulders...

looks like MI is also whining because the game before they had 19 fouls and minny only had 7 all game!
of course they shot almost twice as many 3s as their opponent in that one too! but it's just bad officiating
