Not a grain. While it is made using grain, couscous is actually very small pasta.

The first time I had it was at the "Sand Trap" (corner of Edgewood & 42nd St. NE in CR). It wasn't half bad. Kind of a nutty mini-pasta dish. National dish of Morocco.
