Iowa (after beating #1 seed Houston) was in the winners bracket in the Houston regional, leading #2 seed A&M, 2-0. Then with 2 on, A&M hit a 3 run HR and won by a 3-2 score, knocking Iowa into the losers bracket. After a long rain delay, Iowa would lose to Houston and with that second loss be eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.

A&M not only won that regional but also the Super Regional to advance to the Elite 8 of College Baseball, the College World Series in Omaha.

As you will see below, 5 of the 8 teams have never won a baseball national championship.

The 71st Men's College World Series will take place at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha from June 17-27/28. The CWS is a double-elimination format until two teams are left, at which point those two teams play a best-of-3 series for the national championship.

Defending national champion Coastal Carolina failed to make the original field of 64, so we'll have a new champ this year. The last team to repeat as national champion was South Carolina in 2010-11. 2017 No. 1 overall seed Oregon State won back to back titles in 2006-07.

A lot of ifs that we don't know the answers to. Iowa hit the game tying single, but unluckily for us/lucky for A&M the pitcher batted it with his glove and it stayed in the infield, no contact and that ball is up the middle. With that said, I believe had Iowa won that game we would have found a way to win the regional and super regionals. Wishful thinking? Maybe...

I think the winner of Iowa/A&M had a huge advantage because A&M could sit back, relax, enjoy the fact that Iowa/Houston was rain delayed and then A&M knew the Iowa/Houston winner had to beat them twice, which didnt happen

then A&M got to host the Super Regional; if Iowa had won the regional, they too would have hosted.
