Texas wide receiver Beau Corrales is going to be a Hawkeye. After picking up a scholarship offer from the Iowa coaching staff this month and visiting campus over the weekend, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Corrales made the call today and committed.

“I've been doing a lot of thinking on it and Iowa has everything that I need to be successful,” said Corrales. “Plus, I have friends like Gavin Holmes and Peyton Mansell going there, so that's hard to beat.”

“Knowing that’s where I want to be, it just seems unnecessary to keep my recruiting open any longer,” he continued. “I know Iowa is where I want to be.”

Corrales, who originally committed to Texas State, saw his recruiting take off after Georgetown’s season opener, which saw him catch 15 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa quickly offered a scholarship, followed by Indiana, with interest also coming in from Wisconsin, Kansas State, and several others.

This past weekend, Corrales and his family made an unofficial visit to Iowa City, where they toured the campus and facilities and watched the Hawkeyes beat the Cyclones 42-3 at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday night.

“It’s definitely something special,” Corrales said of Iowa City. “Their facilities are incredible and I absolutely love how supportive the fans are of everything and everyone.”

Overall, Corrales is commitment No. 17 for the Iowa coaching staff in the Class of 2017 and the 6th from the state of Texas as he joins Eno Benjamin, Chevin Calloway, Gavin Holmes, Peyton Mansell, and Matt Hankins.

“I know how excited Iowa is to have this pipeline from Texas and I'm grateful that I get to be a part of this movement,” said Corrales. “It means a lot to me.”

Through his first three games, Corrales has 32 catches for 365 yards and five touchdowns for Georgetown High School this season.

See highlights of Corrales in action in the video below.

Nice pick up Hawks! Welcome aboard!
Last year it seems we grabbed 6 or 7 athletes around 6'4" or 6'5 in height. They can be moved around to fit our needs at OLB, DE, WR, TE........or feed 'em and put them on the line and then to the NFL.

This guy reminds me a lot of Scott Chandler. Came to Iowa as a tall, slow WR. Put on some weight under Doyle and became an awesome receiving threat at TE who continues to collect paychecks in the NFL. The guy is a two star who appears to be on the rise. Let's hope he's a late bloomer.

Also, if anyone missed it, here's the Q&A we did with Corrales when he left Iowa City on Sunday. He's an impressive young man. This answer about the opportunity at Iowa was great.

Q: What is the opportunity like if you were to go there?

CORRALES: They told me they’ll give me one promise and that promise is just an opportunity. They’ll give me the opportunity to play, the opportunity to develop, and the opportunity to grow as a player and a person. Once I get there, they’re going to give me the tools that I need to succeed. From there, it’s up to me to use those tools. If I want to become a starter my freshman year, then the opportunity is there if you seize it. Anything and everything is possible, but you’ve got to be ready to work for it there.

Blair, his answer is fantastic. I hope he takes full advantage of this opportunity.

Supposedly, he has increased his speed a lil bit since these last year vids. I still think he ends up being a TE.

Have a feeling he will end up a 3* by the end of the season. Really nice hands.

2016 recruiting only 1 receiver.
2017 recruiting 3 receivers.

If Oliver Martin comes aboard then 4 for 2017.
So between the 2 classes, 4 maybe 5 receivers. This should work out great.

Beau's QB throws a nice ball. Much like cowbell more speed is always better than less but this kid doesn't look too slow. Learn how to make your breaks crisply, play for body position and you can make a lot of plays in college football.

Having said that if he can put on about 40 pounds of muscle weight he could be a hell of a weapon at tight end.

Maybe, however in recent interviews, he makes it sound like he'd really prefer to try to remain at WR. He reminds me a lot of Hillyer. If you remember early in Hillyer's career - he'd get open some, but he'd drop a lot of the balls. Hillyer end up proving to be his most reliable in the passing game as a SR.

I can see Beau end up being like Hillyer ... but potentially as a more reliable receiving threat. You don't need to be a blazer to get open ... you just need to give the QB a little window. That can be accomplished by getting of your breaks well, by using length (if you have it), and by using good technique off the line of scrimmage.

If you watch this year - you'll see McCarron blocking on the periphery some on those quick read passes to the edge. While he's doing a decent job ... imagine a bigger and stronger sort of guy like Beau blocking on the edge on plays like that. Those quick hitters could pop off for even more yardage ... at least when the secondary is giving too big of a cushion.

Jacob Hillyer comes to mind for me as well....great blocker.

I do not know what tape you guys were watching but this kid has a lot more athletic ability and receiving talent then I ever saw out of Hillyer. I think a year or two working on his explosiveness with coach Doyle and he could be a real threat. He plays through the whistle though and with some attitude, good traits to already have at 17.

Just to clarify, speed wasn't the only factor. He really appears to be able to give the hits as well as take them. Definitely doesn't go down easy. If he gains weight easily, he'll probably be a TE. If it's difficult for him to gain weight, he'll probably stay at WR. It's really as simple as that, IMO. Happy to have him onboard.

Go watch hillyer's vids out of high school...pretty impressive, I think.

Certainly not reliable, but was clocked at 4.47 - He is fast enough with his size and hands to play WR, but TE could be a fallback if he can add 30-35lbs.

That is very impressive speed. Looks like a long strider which goes with being 6'4" but apparently pretty fast.

Just from a height stand point:

The combination of Brandon Smith 6'3", Beau Corrales 6'4", Noah Fant 6'5", TJ Hockenson 6'5"

The RED ZONE is LITE!

Something to drool over!

He plays for a traditionally good program in 5A in Texas which is the 2nd highest classification.
Georgetown is in a really tough district and football in central Texas is really coming on with some amazing talent. Much better than 10 years ago. Lots of great coaches. The qb recruit Mansell is from just up I-35 on the way to Waco from Georgetown which is just north of Austin.
Great pipeline to start developing!

A little trivia...the kicker for the Packers played at Georgetown. I've been to a game there at the HS. They have a beautiful new stadium.

I like this commit. Beau is just the kind of young man who arrives at Iowa with little fan fare and then turns into a star. Welcome Beau and congrats for picking Iowa to continue your education and joining the Hawkeye Family!

Just to add my 2cents, if he adds weight easily he would be a standout at TE. Not that he can't be a good WR but it's rare to see a TE with his skill set.
