Thanks for signing up to do all the dirty work for the 1%ers,, as they reap ginormous profits at our expense. Without you Christians signing up to kill people around the globe that you have never met, we would not have so many enemies to keep the military industrial machine from raking in trillions of dollars. Unfortunately, all you will come back with is, hopefully, all of your limbs, a thank you and a 10% discount at Wal-mart and Starbucks.
You may also want to thank all of them including me for freedom to post this shit. You really are a piece of crap and obviously a coward to boot. Being shoulder to should with a brother or sister in arms is something you can't possibly fathom, so stand tall on your soapbox and spout this crap to a group of proud service men an women that have put their lives on the line to protect your rights to be an asshat and see how that works for you. After meeting with President Roosevelt on October 16, 1941, Secretary of War Henry Stimson wrote in his diary: "We face the delicate question of the diplomatic fencing to be done so as to be sure Japan is put into the wrong and makes the first bad move — overt move." On November 25, the day before the ultimatum was sent to Japan's ambassadors, Stimson wrote in his diary: "The question was how we should maneuver them [the Japanese] into the position of firing the first shot...."

I did as did many others, I never said you don't have the right, as a matter a fact that's one of the things being protected. At the very least you could just thank the men and women that afforded you this right whether you agree with their decisions or not. Instead all you wanted to do is degrade their sacrifices and trample on them because you dislike the government. You make it sound like anyone that volunteers for military service is a war monger with a desire to do nothing but kill innocent people. This couldn't be further from the truth.
How many rights have we lost since 9/11 when you were over 'there' invading and bombing sovereign lands based on lies? Defend our soil and I'm right there with you. But, when Obombya bombs and/or invades 8 countries in less than 2 full terms, you lost me.

I have much respect for volunteers and people with altruistic motives that put themselves in a possible position to defend the country if the situation arises. Unfortunately the goodwill of these people is used for people with less than altruistic motives.
While I was in, and even now I always hated the thank a veteran or service member junk too. Patriot car magnets of empty platitudes always drew my ire, and no amount of jingoistic music could excite me to gather freedoms. And then there is Veteran's Day which is now a day with a few parades, a lot of sales, and politicians taking photo ops.

I'm currently watching 2 of my kids march with their JROTC group here in Leavenworth. Damn proud of them and all of the other vets/active members of the military that are participating in the parade to honor our heroes in uniform. What are we disagreeing on? My respect for the volunteers? My dislike of the MIC? My dislike of jingoism?

I can understand that too. From my experience service members are cool mofos, and if you want to celebrate them have at it by all means.

If no one showed up to fight, there would be no wars. Looking in the mirror, we know they're all based on lies. Even now, we know what is going on in Ukraine, Russia, Syria, the whole darn ME, is a flipping lie.
If we continue to fund the enemy with all the latest weaponry, then yes. However, since we spend more than the next 10 countries combined, I don't see that happening.If no one showed up to fight we'd be pretty easy to conquer.
