We have quite a few of Freshmen and Sophomores infiltrating the 2 deeps this year. 21 different names in the (projected) 2 deep for the 1st game are Fr/So, which doesn't include the injured Richman and Johnson, and the "keep and eye on" players Kaleb Johnson and Ostrenga.
I'm not sure how many there are normally but I'm willing to bet that number is pretty high. There are 50 total 2 deep slots and half of those are Fr/So.
Despite this young team Iowa football is either in or just outside many top 25 lists (which yes at this point doesn't mean much). Though I think we have a lot to look forward to, in particular the battle of the trenches on both sides of the ball for at least the next few years.
