A guy sitting near me at a home game a couple years ago insisted that the whole crowd should not be extending arms fully in front and clapping hands as Darth Vader's music plays. Instead, he thought "the Beak" (put your palms on opposite shoulders and touch elbows in the same fashion) would be more fitting. Lol. I cracked up and went along with him for the game.

Is there a chance this becomes a movement this season?

How much more NO can you get than HELL NO!?!

Lol this reminds me of a guy in the stands of the 2004 outback bowl. This guy was so drunk he starts yelling to fellow Hawkeye fans "You're doing it wrong, that's the gator chomp!, make your hands a beak!"

Dude. Has to be the same guy. He was probably tipsy at least. Lol. Passionate about it, too. Just banging elbows like there's no tomorrow...going on and on about not giving Florida credit for our stops.

Clearly, no.

It’s not my favorite game day experience since I went to Iowa in the 2000s, but what you refer to as “the chomp” actually started happening at Iowa games due to the Pac-Man craze in the early 80s. I’m not sure when Florida started it for the Gators, but I’d imagine before then. I assume several schools did the Pac-Man thing in the 80s, but it’s stuck at Iowa.
