The coaches we faced in 4 out of 5 last bowl losses...

tea in china?

different programs have different boosters and different expectations.

our friends to the West have had an ongoing dumpster fire due to expectations. Will stick with the Hawks, thank you.

....are no longer employed.

2011 Insight Bowl (Stoops, OU, albeit resignation)
2014 Outback Bowl (Miles, LSU)
2015 TaxSlayer Bowl (Jones, Tennessee)
2017 Outback Bowl (McElwain, Florida)

(exception being 2016 Rose Bowl, (Shaw, Stanford). But we've all purged that from our memories, right?)
The worst part about this is all these guys have buyouts like Bret B is 15m and I'm sure Riley is big too.But all there Assistant coaches and families get thrown to the streets to relocate.

Good catch.

Pessimistic extrapolation of this tells me all these teams were probably very beatable, and yet...

*Regardless of the remaining games on the schedule, another bowl loss this year would really sting.

It shows the insanity of college football. And a lot of denizens on this board want to join the insanity.

People working minimum wage jobs are held to a higher standard than some fortunate people. Someone caught stealing a paperclip and they get fired. Someone stealing 5 mil and they get a lifetime contract. Now you know why adults are constantly telling children life isn't fair.

Yup, be careful what you wish for. I'll take 8-4 or 7-5 seasons all day long with an occasional 9-3 or 10-2. I do not want to go through what Nebbie and some of those other schools are going through. KF is a good coach and we are building toward 2018. This years team was young in a couple of key positions.

Jim coaches two full seasons at FLA and won the division title both seasons. Seems like he was competing for championships.

Are you referring to the fans who didn't enjoy the Wisky game?

Everyone didn't enjoy the wisky game. But only a small segment runs to this message board and starts posting about what coaches we could replace KFz with, when we all know there is a zero percent chance of Kirk getting fired in the next few years.

Auburn fired their AD not too long ago, with the assumption being that it was setting the stage for them to fire the head FB coach, who has been on the hot seat. Now, that coach has them on the precipice of an SEC title and *possible* inclusion in the 4-team CFP. *Bad* coach became a good coach all of a sudden? Kind of humorous in a way!

Seems like he was doing that with recruits from the previous coach. Having a losing record at Florida with their resources and talented recruiting pool in the guy's third year? Not acceptable there. No way. He just didn't have it. They fired Ron Zook years ago and replaced him with Urban Meyer. Teams like Florida can attract top-notch coaching talent so why stay with McElwain?

Yikes

He was competing for SEC East championships at a time where it is worse than the BIG West. He got blown out four times vs Alabama and FSU. Georgia is on the upswing and blew them out. His schemes were simplistic and couldn't develop a QB at a school that loves its offenses.

You can lose at Florida, but you better have some charisma or have a fun offense to watch.

Will Muschamp was run out of FLA by going 17-15 in conference, including 3-5 and 4-4 his final two years.

Yet somehow the next guy just rides his recruits to two consecutive division titles in his first two seasons.

Morons like yourself have bullshit madeup spin for any scenario.

Morons like myself? Very nice. Explain Matt Campbell doing so well with the old regime's recruits. Do you seriously think there's no difference in quality between coaches, that coaches can't make a difference in the quality of play of the players they have?

What? Now you contradicting yourself. McElwain comes in and wins two division titles in his first two seasons, and you casually dismiss the accomplishment that it was the previous coach's recruits. Two division titles is totally negated by a bad year three, and justifies the firing in your opinion.

Now you're arguing that Campbell is doing a great job. I agree he is doing well, but McElwain did well, too. They both should be applauded for coming in and winning ball games.
