I have no idea what Tyler will do but whatever it is, good luck to the young man. Dreams are a hard thing to give up and if pro ball is his dream, then so be it, he should go for it.

In my situation, pro golf was my dream. I tried it, found I wasn't going to make a living at it and moved on with my life. I advise Tyler to do the same. You are only young once (unfortunately) so he should live his life with no regrets.

I've been critical of his game in the past, but anybody, not named Michael Jordan has holes in their game. Maybe he can overcome them, I hope he does. Tyler has represented the University well and I wish him all the best in his future, whatever it is.

I agree 100%. I hope Tyler comes back for his Senior season but it doesn't look likely.

Per the 20th website, 91 NBA underclassmen that have made themselves available for the NBA draft. I would assume 90% think they will get a roster spot next year if they are given a chance.

I don’t think his ceiling has been reached at Iowa.
.

I absolutely agree. TC's ceiling will not be reached for another 4-5 years from now. That is fact (unless he quits basketball, which he won't). Even if he has a major injury, like so many players do, he'll be back and better than before.

If Tyler works on his overall game with a focus on team play, both defense & offense, and rebounding. That would increase his ceiling quite a bit. Add that he develops some more moves under the basket, his ceiling will be significantly higher next year....

Plus he can & will refine his shot. He was shooting in the mid-70% range from the FT line for the first few months of the season. SO the guy has the ability to shoot... Just like Connor. Both will be shooting much better in the future(hopefully starting next year!). Bank on it!

All of this is possible. TC has the desire and work ethic. Bring it back for his senior year, and the Hawks kill it....IMHO.

Actually agree with all this. Think Cook made some improvements this year. Although not as fast or consistently as he would need for where he wants to be. Question remains. Does he keep getting better in a more nurturing environment and get his degree? Or does he start making and struggling for some real world income now while trying to keep improving on teams where his coaches aren’t going to be as patient?

I think Iowas staff has been too patient and hes suffered for it.

Hes clearly not putting forth the effort on the court to get the most out of his gifts and since Iowa doesn't have anyone else the coaches seem to be fine with it.

Maybe Frans telling him to avoid contact to avoid fouls because he thinks that's the best option for the team?

The only way a guy his size and skill set makes the NBA is as a rebounder/defender and those are the things that have not been demanded at Iowa.

His outside shot may never get to where it needs to be but he can make up for it in other areas. His help defense could improve a lot...Nick Baer had twice as many blocks in 10 less minutes a game. He has room to improve already good rebounding numbers...

I’m on the fence as to whether a Cook return would be better for the team. There’s certainly going to be enough front court depth and offense for Cook to devote himself to being a better rebounder and defender and have the offense run through other players, punishing double teams on the other scorers with his power game. This would be his offensive role at the next level anyway. If that would be the plan, he should return to Iowa.

The problem is he sees himself as more of a stretch 4 with perimeter driving skills when his role in the NBA would small 5 who's main function would be defense and never touches the ball other than rebounds and dunks.

The small 5 is his NBA role. But he needs to better perimeter defender and better when switching.

How many years before someone built like cook, will go the Tranny route, and dominate women’s basketball?
