Last season some brilliant Arizona State students came up with the curtain of distraction which they used when the opponent was shooting a free throw. Just prior to the free throw being shot the curtain opens to reveal an amusing or weird thing. The shooter cannot help but to look at it and statistics show that it was quite effective in lowering opponents free throw percentages. Question: Will Iowa students get creative this year? Or is the "curtain of distraction" even legal in the B1G? It seems to me there is some sportsmanship statute that expressly prohibits this type of behavior. Heck the only Big heads allowed are the ones officially sanctioned by the University and passed out prior to the game. I would sure like to see our students do a better job of making CHA a great home court advantage!

I'd love to see something like this but the B1G probably won't let it happen. Hell, I'm surprised the NCAA isn't bringing the hammer down on ASU.

Good thoughts Hooper. Personally, I like the "Novocain blow darts of Numbness". They don't have to be much bigger than a pea shooter and could be passed around even before the game and used during warm ups. A good shot to the arm or leg with one fly sized dart and let the fun ensue.

This of course is a rip off of the "Hallucinogenic Hunting Harpoons" once used by primitive arctic tribes to capture narwhales. I've toned down the chemical and method of delivery as we don't want to actually harvest an opposing player for his hide and meat. And I doubt we want several young and athletic men staggering about the court having some odd delusions or manic episodes.

What about having the bartender at BWW move the rim slightly with a toggle switch under the bar? Reserve it for games where an opponent's missed FT would send the game into OT,

They did that for awhile...but the bartender died during the 9/11 attacks and they haven't used it since.

i always assumed there were rules against that distraction. Otherwise, why and the hell can't the cute cheerleaders get a row of nerdy ugly mugs like me in the stands to hold up a curtain of distraction.

If its legal I expect the cheerleaders to have this problem solved by first tip off.

It seems like it would be illegal but it is going on at several schools.
