The guy that tackled him ran through three of our guys unblocked. Why not just shove him if you see him running towards you? Are they coached to just assume a punt that early in the play?
How about he just punt it like we called??

Question is, why do it when you're up 31 with 4:30 to go?
But.......it wasn't a fake punt. No reason to block 83
Based on Kirk's comments, I don't think he has green light on his rugby punts. Kirk might give him an option on a specific punt, but he sure didn't have green light on that particular play. It's a key on the rugby punts. If he sees it, he has the green light. Up 31 it should have been a yellow light, with no one else expecting it, and hence why Kirk is mad...
The ball should of been punted long before that guy even appeared....the play was to punt it period. It is done probably 50 times a week in practice...one guy decided he was going to do his thing and it didn't work out for him. It happens and pretty sure it will never happen again for that kid.Agree but where is the situational awareness from our guys? How many times does an opposing player fly across the field toward the boundary that early and that close to the LOS on a punt? Not an easy pick up but you'd think someone would might react to slow that route even just a little. That's all that was needed.
