And their base eats it up. Here's Marco's contribution:

Rubio Brands Crist’s Running Mate As “Karla Marx”

September 5, 2022 Republicans, Trump cultists

Florida Politics reports:
Labor Day brings a fresh email from the Marco Rubio campaign. identifying two so-called “peas in a radical pod” that suggests a re-election fight resembling a tag team wrestling match.
Rubio’s campaign spotlighted a joint campaign appearance between his General Election opponent, U.S. Rep. Val Demings of Orlando, and the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, Karla Hernández.
The email refers to Hernández as “Karla Marx,” an attempt to brand the teachers’ union head turned political candidate as a radical. Beyond denoting a shared “love” of school lockdowns, the Rubio campaign email paints both candidates as soft on Cuban communism.

The Rs went all in on the Marx talk in 2020 and got their asses handed to them. Good luck going in for another lazy round of campaigning. For once I wish they would work on real leading instead of failed name calling.

Marco is more than a little worried.

Demmings has closed to within 3 points, and within the MOE.

I think the thing that would annoy me the most about living in Florida would be kissing the assess of Cuban Americans.

Yep, but I'm sure if I look around I'll see where the Christians are harping on the gays.
You do know there is good and bad in all walks of life, right? Good and bad Christians, good and bad Republicans, good and bad Democrats, good and bad straight people, good and bad gay people, good and bad white people, good and bad black people, etc…..

There are no good Baptists, sorry. Every other religion I'll give you.

I do... and if I don't make it clear I, of course, have nothing against christians who stay in their lane. The omission of "all" in front of Christians doesn't default to "all". Only the guilty ones. Some of my best friends are Christian, practicing Catholics, etc...

You’re wrong. And you know there is a large population of black people that are Baptists. They’re not good people?

Well I wasn't being serious. But I was raised Catholic and did talk to a few Baptists in high school and some of them apparently still talk about Catholics like it's 1940. Like I got quizzed by a dude on transubstantiation and the Pope in study hall. This kid struggled with Of Mice and Men in English class and his religion is about how only he can understand God by studying the Bible for himself, but he's gonna make fun of transubstantiation and the Pope? Other Protestants are nicer.

Petty is what they're best at. It's kinda their wheelhouse.
They have a long way to go to catch up to the effectiveness of dem labels, but they're trying.

They've not struck upon anything as effective as racist, homophobe, transphobe, or even misogynistic or fascist.

Communist and socialist seem to be gaining more momentum again, but dems have won elections based almost solely on labels. IMO that luck is about to run out since people are once again struggling to pay bills under dem leadership, but time will tell.

One thing I'm sure of is that name calling will continue, and I'll still see through all of it. Show me what you're going to do, not what you're going to call your opponent.

Ahh, in comes the aggrieved victim.

My kids grew up Catholic in Texas and were sometimes asked by their Baptist friends when they were going to become Christians.

Wow. Really?
Not really. Actually had a great time visiting Calle Ocho when I went down to visit my brother living in Miami. But if you were a FL statewide politician or a Miami area politician it seems you'd have to keep doing the Cold War thing forever.

Oh damn lol. It wasn't like that between me and anyone at school, I was just the new kid and everyone knew I went to Catholic school before high school. It was just the first time I'd ever heard anyone talk about Catholics because the town I lived in before HS had probably close to 10 Catholic churches at the time. There were plenty of other Catholics at my high school, but they grew up there and none of them went to Catholic school. So I think they got the passover treatment on seeing who was loyal to the Pope.

Wow you're so profound. A real thinker, you are.

While there are plenty of things that bother me more, I very much disagree with the preferential treatment give to Cuban refugees over those from other countries.
