At any time during the games, Kirk and Brian need to throw a curve at the defense and start using Padilla and or Labas when we need a rollout pass/run option, the old name for what is now rpo.

If Kirk wants to start Spencer that is fine as his overall passing and play is better by the measurables. But.....

Any third or 4th and somewhat short play, critical or not, calls for the more mobile qb who can stretch the defense, run it if they find a seam, or make defenders come up and throw a simple short pass for the first down.

That 4th and 2 at the Mich 6, after a very iffy and lazy spot on the previous 2nd down, with about 6 minutes to go is a perfect example of having a more mobile qb who has practiced a set of plays with the offense for those certain situations.

Rutgers and other teams have their special backup QB packages and if you saw the Alabama backup qb run for about 70 yards to help bail them out yesterday then it would be good for Kirk to use all his players to the best of their abilities.

With the game on the line, asking your QB to execute the one type of throw that he is particularly horrific at executing (throwing while moving to his left) probably wasn't the best call.
Not sure why they have Petras rolling out to the left like 75% of his passes. It’s hard for any qb to throw against his body but it looks impossible for Petras.

Not sure why we are complaining about the 4th down call, hell even if they catch it, the play is coming back so it would be 4th and 17 with the PI. They ran a beautiful stretch play to the right for the touchdown earlier in the game on the goal line, why was this not the call on 3rd?

The basic issue is Michigan DL dominated Iowa OL and for most part, stuffed the Iowa run game.

Maybe the zone stretch would have worked...or maybe Iowa gets called for holding or the maybe it gets stuffed as Michigan would have guessed it was coming. Iowa wasn't going to win regardless of whether they made that 1st down or not. The last drive where Petras got sacked/hurried 4 times in a row kind of showed the MIchigan ability to dominate.

If Iowa would have scored a touchdown at 14-20, with 8 minutes left in the game, there is a chance.
