Utterly deplorable and immoral:

Sen. Joe Manchin III (W.Va.) on Friday defended balking at inclusion in an economic package of any new spending on climate change or new tax increases targeting wealthy individuals and corporations — a posture that could dramatically limit the scope of legislation Democrats are seeking to pass in coming weeks.
Manchin, appearing on “Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval” in West Virginia, said he was alarmed by an inflation report this week showing prices were 9.1 percent higher in June than a year before.
Manchin said in the interview that he didn’t want “overreach that causes more problems.” But he also appeared open to revisiting some climate and tax proposals in the fall.
Manchin said he told House Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) that he is comfortable moving forward this month with provisions that aim to lower prescription drug costs for seniors, as well as a two-year extension of enhanced Obamacare subsidies set to expire at the end of the year.
“It’s not prudent to do the other right now,” Manchin said, later adding: “We can come back the first of September and pass this legislation if it’s a good piece of legislation.”

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) told Democratic leaders Thursday that he wouldn’t support an economic package with new climate spending or new tax increases targeting wealthy individuals and corporations, citing concerns about exacerbating inflation. For over a year, Democrats have attempted to find a path forward on a sweeping social spending deal to overhaul federal health care, education, climate, immigration and tax laws. And now the potential legislation appears to be a shadow of its former self.
Writing in The Health 202, The Post’s Rachel Roubein says what’s left is basically a health-care bill — and one that’s much smaller than the once-in-a-decade remake of the system Democrats had originally envisioned. Per Rachel:
Manchin is open to provisions that aim to lower prescription drug costs for seniors, as well as a two-year extension of enhanced Obamacare subsidies set to expire at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, writing in The Climate 202, The Post’s Maxine Joselow writes that climate activists are not happy with the major shift in the scope of the potential Democratic bill. Per Maxine:
They argue it’s a major setback for the planet, whose catastrophic warming would have been slowed by the significant new spending on climate and clean energy.
One advocate in particular who’s not happy is Jamal Raad, executive director of the climate advocacy group Evergreen Action.
He told the New York Times that Manchin “has pretended to be a fair arbiter,” talking about leaving a better planet for his grandchildren. But it turns out that’s not true, Raad asserted. “He cares about profits for his coal company and his own political future over the future of our planet.”

We’ve got the most unpopular, disliked President since World War 2 leading this party. He can’t keep his party in line. Can’t really do much of anything. No wonder this is happening. 🤦‍♂️

He’s in the catbird seat and taking advantage. Can the dems remove his affiliation as a democrat?

Ultimately comes down to the belief/reality that Joe Manchin is more worried about being reelected than moving this country forward.
Americans today are not willing to make hard decisions and sacrifices to solve long-term problems. They make all decisions based on short-term economic self-interest. Manchin is guided solely by what is necessary to get re-elected in a coal state.

Only if they get to a 51/49 majority this fall.

That is a tall order, but not impossible.
These Senators aren’t getting rid of the filibuster with numbers like that. You’d need 55 or 56 at least Democratic Senators. A lot of moderate Democrat senators are hiding behind Manchin right now.

Manchin appears to be the only democrat that actually cares about the country he is in office to serve. There is no way any responsible politician would recommend spending anymore money with inflation at over 9%. Rather than make laws based on the need of the country and it's citizens, most in the democratic party say we have an agenda and we don't give a sh!t what it does to our country. Example stopping oil production just when the country and world need it most.

I more talking just a simple majority.

Manchin, even worse than Sinema, is "stonewalling" everything.

And this comes on the heels of him telling Schumer he'd back the already watered down legislation. Legislation that Schumer had already made concessions on.

Manchin can't be trusted.

Biden has been absolutely horrible with his messaging. Examples: My number one priority now is inflation and prices, yet he wants to pass these Build Back Better agenda items that would have added trillions to our national debt.
Another example, student loans need to be forgiven because things are really bad, yet our economy is booming and jobs are everywhere. 🤷‍♂️

Pussies shouldn't run for political office.
But how else would they get all those kickbacks from energy companies?
