The Nebraska Cyclones

Is this supposed to hurt our feelings or something. Not sure why Iowa fans always bring up ISU when talking about Nebraska. Nebraska is 86-17-2 vs ISU. Iowa is 41-22. I don't understand the logic.

Since 1998 they have also lost 10 times to ISU, with them winning the game 8 times. They should pick a better comparison.

Have to be honest, and I am a loyal Hawkeye fan, but it's amazing how cocky some of us are getting. Three months ago, the Iowa football program was discussed on here the same way people talk about the Titanic.

Your point is valid, but picking 1998 as a starting point is pretty arbitrary. Prior to 1998, Iowa had a decade and a half wining streak after all.

From 98-02, ISU amassed a 5 game winning streak when let's be real Iowa football was at it's worst and ISU was at it's best. From 2003-2010, Iowa was winning on average 3/4 years (still not acceptable given how bad to mediocre ISU teams were). From 2011-2015, ISU is 3-2, which, let's be real again, up until this season, the majority of Iowa fans were considering the "latter" Ferentz years as a rapidly declining regime. Regardless, I think most objective observers would say quite confidently that Iowa football as an overall program has been far more successful than Iowa State.

To your point, though, yes, the comparison is pretty lame.

With all the calls for Reilly's head, the 5-6 record, and their super bowl coming up on Friday, should they hire Paul Rhodes as their new head coach before the game?

Do you guys just make up the built in excuse of, "it was their super bowl!" as a way to make yourself feel better when you lose?
If you're going to be a championship contender, stop making excuses like that for losing.

Whoever wins this game will do so because they played better...period.

The comparison is lame, but the thread is not?

I already stated what I thought of it in an earlier response. I'm not going to speculate what your reading comprehension level is, but for those with at least a 5th grade reading level, it is pretty clear I am not agreeing with the OP.

I would guess Hawkeye fans hope that doesn't happen, since it has been historically difficult for them to beat teams he is coaching...;)

Ha. We'll see. I like this Hawkeye team and like their chances Friday. Mean no disrespect to Nebraska, but Iowa has the better team this year and I hope that is evidenced on the field three days from now.

This is correct. If the Hawks play as they have all year they win the game. If they help Nebraska win the game we can lose.

Agree. And if we lose Friday, some of these gloaters are going to look like idiots. Act like you have been here before. Not a bunch of high school kids after a Friday night game.

Well they are excited at the prospects of 'thinking' Iowa is a sure win for them so they can make it to the almighty Pizza Bowl in Detroit. Such a great bowl game...........

The reality is that this game is a toss up. Iowa has been ultra consistent and the Huskers haven't. If Tommy doesn't turn ball over it will be difficult to beat us. This game can only go three ways. Close with either team winning or Iowa blows us out. Our program is still mentally fu$&&@ up from Blo Pelini.....but we're coming around.
If you guys get off to good start its over because you don't beat yourself.

1912. That was the last year the clowns won a conference football championship. The same year Arizona was admitted as the 48th state. The same year Roald Amundsen announced the discovery of the South Pole. The Girl Scouts were organized. Cy Young retired from baseball. Fenway Park opened. Pravda was first published. Paramount Pictures was founded. Massachusetts passed the first minimum wage law. The US Army tested the first machine gun mounted on a plane. A New York ticker tape parade is held for Jim Thorpe and U.S. Olypians. Tarzan of the Apes is published. Woodrow Wilson is elected president. First Keystone Kops film is released.

But we've NEVER been here before. The closest we came was 9-0 in 2009. We're 11-0!

I think most Iowa fans acknowledge that Neb has a decent team that should have a couple more W's in the column. Very possible that Neb could win Friday but with all of their talk the last week, they better for their sake.

Iowa fans and Nebraska fans seem equally delusional these days.

Iowa and Nebraska are currently similar programs. Iowa is executing better and getting the most of their talent. Nebraska is not. For the foreseeable future I think the Iowa and Nebraska programs will be top 3 in the B1G West most years.

It's just so funny that Nebraska thinks they are good now after "beating" Michigan State on a blatant no-call and a choke hold on a d-lineman on the same play and by beating the national title contenders Rutgers while Armstrong had 3 picks. LOL
