***** The Official Championship Saturday Thread! *****

That was an awesome answer. Great run by Taylor and then a great catch. Should be a good second half

Sunshine now has four - count 'em - FOUR touchdown passes against UVA tonight. And it's still early.

You can run as many science-y ads as you want, Ohio State. I’ll always remember, “We ain’t come here to play school.”

He was out of the pocket and a runner. Don't want to get smoked, don't pretend to be a running back.

#41 from OSU lowered his helmet and went directly into his facemask. Targeting is a personal foul regardless of being a runner or not.

No it isn't, running backs get jacked all the time. It's only a targeting foul if he's being held up by someone else and launched into, which was not the case here. The fact that he's a 6'3 220 lb bean pole running straight up with poor technique isn't the defender's fault. Dude was running towards the pylon trying to score and if you don't lower your pad level as a runner you get slammed. The current rule set has really manipulated the viewer into thinking any hard hit is targeting. Dude even planted his right foot and cut back into the defender. You can frame by frame it by pausing and using the < and > keys.

There are two types of targeting: Forcible contract with the crown of the helmet; and Any contact with the head or neck of a defenseless player.

The kid crouched and looked to make forcible contact with the crown of his helmet. That would be targeting.

Great, it's not enforced that way. If targeting was really enforced as any forcible contact with the crown of the helmet then there would be at least a dozen targeting penalties a game. No one gives a **** about running backs in these safety rules, so if you're a QB who wants to run, welcome to equality.

If there was contact like that, in the video, it should be called.

It's appropriate that it was Ohio State... that was a Jack Tatum, headhunter, hit. You're not allowed to make direct contact with the player's HEAD.

What's most telling about that last play is you never see the play from any other angle. The time runs out, the teams run out onto the field... too late! Every play has at least four or five camera angles. NOT THIS TIME! That was bush-league shit.
