The receiver pointing for a first down after the catch

is officially a scourge of epidemic proportions in college football.

I have seen this probably 5 times in every game that I've watched this year, and it needs to stop. Now.
This has been going on for years both in college and nfl. It's not going away.

Last year a Texas receiver was flagged for a celebration penalty after motioning for the first down. I was freaking out but I'm guessing you would love that. Every celebration penalty is a bad call. Having said that the whole "keep feeding me" thing with the spoon has got to stop. Be original. I thought it only made sense for running backs and receivers but now everyone is doing it.

Never said they should be flagged for this behavior. More like cut off the offending arm. I think you'd only have to do this once or twice before we saw a remarkable reduction in the problem.

It's a hundred times worse now. You might see it once every couple of games before. Now it literally happens ALL. THE. TIME.

You must be new to football. Michael Irvin did it on every 1st down catch he had over 20 years ago, and he wasn't the only one doing it then.

I posted on TOS about the ISU PAT holder. Did anyone else notice how he furiously pumped his arms after a made PAT or their FG? Just ridiculous.

It went something like this...

It was basically that, Devil. As I posted on TOS, I don't want to see the kicker do that after a made PAT, much less the guy that just held the ball on a made PAT.

Don't watch pro football. The OP clearly mentioned college. Try to pay attention in the future.

It only bothers me when the team is behind. That's hilarious

Otherwise I wish they'd let these guys do more celebrating. Keep taunting illegal, but bring back the end zone dances.

Did I mention pro football? He started doing it while he played at Miami. Heck, he may have started doing it in HS. But I saw him do it numerous times at the U, and he most certainly wasn't the only one on his team doing things like that, and given the era, I doubt the U was the only team doing it.

Try to pay attention in the future.

Saw it. I tried hard to imagine the guy as a sixth grader being taught how to be a PAT holder. No other athletic ability at all. This has been his whole method of serving a purpose. Not that bright so he knows he'll graduate and be a cog in the wheel somewhere. This is it, this is his ONE thing. I told myself, "I should be happy for him........."

But I still wished someone would drag his nutty butt off the field and lock him up somewhere!!! Strange dude...really strange.

The '80s were a different time. Rampant celebration was common after even the most mundane of plays. It's not in any way, shape, or form comparable to how the college game is played today.
