We're done in the west division. We still have 5 games to play. We need to win two minimum to get to a bowl game again. It's not going to be the Rose Bowl. The bright side is maybe that we get a bowl match-up where we're not underdogs and maybe we can use the bowl prep to develop the guys who are currently lower on the depth chart. It's what we expected if we were realistic about this year. Get some good wins against the teams remaining on our schedule and get better for next year. Our LB corps will be very green at the start of next year, but we'll return experience at most other positions. Get better. Don't lose to whatever MAC team we get to play in Detroit around Christmas.

Have you seen Minnesota play lately? Also, Purdue at home, they lost to Rutgers today. But I understand, you were probably being sarcastic.

Yes, Iowa's saving grace for bowl eligibility is 2 more home games against one of the worst Minnesota teams I've seen in a while (which is saying something) and a Purdue team that seems to have lost its early season steam. But Nebraska will probably win because we play them on the road and Iowa doesn't seem to be able to beat anyone if they leave the state to play.

Our signature win this season has been over Iowa St.
which defeated Oklahoma. Our signature loss was
by 2 points to Penn St. which is ranked second in the
nation.

Bottom Line: We miss the injured Butler. He was
suppose to form the dynamic duo with Wadley as
our stud running backs. We have lost to Mich St.
and Northwestern by only 7 points each. Wadley
needs some help.

Lute, do you fax your posts in? I still don't understand why all of your posts have a stenographer's format. Anyway, there's no such thing as a "signature loss" unless you're talking about a 10-11 win team with a setback.

Minnesota is up and down. Purdue seems to be falling off it's early momentum. Nebraska is in a bad way. But reality check....North Texas and Illinois are pretty bad too, and we struggled with them at home (don't let the final scores fool you).

So there probably are two wins remaining.....but it's FAR from a guaranteed proposition with this team. Every game of those three is likely to be a crapshoot. This is begrudgingly assuming losses to Wisky and OSU....although from a scheme and personnel standpoint, we probably have a slightly better chance of springing the monumental upset against the Badgers on the road, than the Buckeyes at home.

Losing to Penn State was painful at the moment...but I got over it. Losing like yesterday is like an infected boil, it continues to fester an is painful even in the off season. Hopefully Coach McCaffrey and the Basketball team can provide an anecdote and bring us some relief.

Good thing KF played it conservative again yesterday or Iowa might have lost. It's wise to avoid using any misdirection, playing two RBs at the same time, or doing anything that the defense isn't prepared for. It's also intelligent to avoid the use of any trick plays. The results could be disastrous.

I like this team. We will be in the games, but have to win the close ones. This team competes and plays hard, but needs to limit mistakes. I am hopeful we can see some growth in our offense with all our young pieces.

You do know how the current "staff" prepares, preps and shows up for bowl games, right?
