President Berries believes that the U.S. Supreme Court should never have taken up King v. Burwell, the latest legal challenge to his signature healthcare law.

He told reporters during a Monday press conference at the G-7 summit in Germany:

Since the “Affordable Care Act” was pushed through Congress behind closed doors and rammed through over the vote of every single member of the Republican Party, that might be a difficult sell to opponents of the healthcare law.

The case involves the legality of federal subsidies to states that don’t run their own healthcare exchanges, based on the Affordable Care Act’s designation of an “exchange established by the state.” The Supreme Court heard arguments on the case in March and is expected to deliver its ruling later this month.

Should the court decide against the administration, 6.4 million people in 34 states nationwide will lose their subsidies, according to The Huffington Post.
