I have to say that as an Iowa fan who really started to pay attention in the early 80s, I never even knew it existed until Iowa st won in the late 90s. And I always thought it looked like a chintzy trophy but I wish they had it back now instead of the corporate sponsored trophy. All the new trophies seem to look the same. Should hav kept the pewter family one and said the loser has to take it. That would be something they would be talking about forever
Makes me want to cancel the game--forever.
The proper trophy is painfully obvious.
Kinnick Stadium is the only major college stadium in America named for a Heisman trophy winner.
Trice Stadium is the only major college stadium in America named for an African-American player.
Nile Kinnick died in a Naval training accident during WW2.
Jack Trice died of injuries suffered in a game with Minnesota.
Trophy should have Trice and Kinnick standing on a football field shaking hands.

Regardless of the trophy, this game should only be played twice every four years to open up scheduling options for both teams.
I think the Cy-Hawk series for all sports is stupid. Does any other school do this?

Until/unless something happens that creates a story for a new trophy (a la Floyd, the Little Brown Jug, etc) that would have been my choice.

I know someone who actually proposed a Kinnick-Trice trophy to the Iowa Athletic Department: the two iconic players shaking hands with smaller, 3D replicas of Kinnick Stadium and Jack Trice Stadium in the background. It would be to trophies what The Wave is to college traditions.
But Iowa and its corporate sponsors, as usual, had better ideas. I guess that's why you need to hire a consultant.
BTW: The original trophy would have earned a C- in my eighth grade shop class. What a disgrace to trophies, major college sports and, worst of all, the entire state of Iowa.

The current one isn't bad. Better than the heroes trophy and the original cy-hawk.
