…all share something in common. Except for casino-dominated Nevada coming in at 10, One particular political party runs (and for most all of them dominates) their state legislatures, governorships, and supreme courts.

Don’t mess with Texas though. They’re the second worst.

(three best are Hawaii, Maine, and Vermont, all have very different state legislatures. Hawaii’s for example is 95% dem, 72 dems, only 4 republicans)

CNBC is no liberal rag but a moderate business media outlet, so they look at where is attractive to live so that it’s easier to attract highly educated workers.

article notes that gen Z and millennials want to live in places with good social services, public services, lots of culture, tolerance, diversity, and presumably, that also value woman’s rights. This ranking is not mere opinion, but it is based on publicly available data and common metrics of quality of life.

Iowa is #10 of ten best. Above average.

7 of 10 best quality of life states are blue. and the three run by Rs have been traditionally family oriented too (Nebraska and ND)

why republicans think that slashing social programs and public services is what people want (they don’t), is beyond me. Republicans are the party of corporate slash and burn privatization.

I see most of the southern border states are on there. Of course, the actual pre-requisites of the list prevent you from mentioning the fact that our open borders play an active role in their shittiness. Cool!

Florida and Georgia are tied for 11th worst, the next spot on this list

Here are the complete rankings

That appears to be best states for businesses which apparently do not translate at all into best states to live in, not surprisingly.

The list is funny. Basically saying Gen Z and Millennials are racist as shit. They hate “the country, and love the coffee shops and shopping offered in places like Portland, Maine and Montpelier, VT, but don’t want to have to deal with the minorities that come with places like Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa and Miami. What a group.

Lol…They want diversity so much, all of their favorite places are whiter than a snowball in rice.

Just look at Texas. Laughable. They highlight the highest rate of uninsured and how it hurts healthcare. Well holy shit…no kidding.

And the final straw that just screws “I’m a huge liberal”. Inclusiveness.

Skilled workers are still flocking to Texas despite longstanding quality of life issues. According to Census data, the state ranks No. 3 for net migration of college educated workers behind Florida and Washington. But when they arrive, they are finding limited childcare options, a stressed health care system with the highest rate of uninsured, new curbs on voting rights, and few protections against discrimination.

2022 Life, Health & Inclusion Score: 72 out of 325 points (Top States Grade: F)

Strengths: No metrics in the top 50%

Weaknesses: Childcare, Health Resources, Inclusiveness, Voting Rights

"CNBC is no liberal rag but a moderate business media outlet"

LOL!

No kidding…folks moving here in droves but it’s 11th worst🙄

I’ll do my part. Hell, I only visit if required to by work.

I may change my tune someday when I’m really old and the blood doesn’t flow as well to my extremities so I’m cold all the time. But for now, Florida can keep its heat and humidity to itself.

One of my best friends is an educational official in Arizona (not a teacher). He says the citizens there are so opposed to raising taxes for education they would rather raise stupid kids. Guess he is right.
I’m no fan of taxes but recognize they are necessary and in many cases are directly related to quality of life. I suspect in places like Arizona it will only get tougher to raise any taxes with all the refugees from California.

Summers are a bitch…can’t argue that

That is why CNBC’s annual America’s Top States for Business study pays particular attention to quality of life. Now, with workers increasingly holding the cards, it is especially important in our methodology.

Our Life, Health and Inclusion category considers factors such as crime rates, environmental quality, and health care. For the first time in 2022, we also consider the availability of childcare, which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found is a major obstacle for parents seeking to reenter the workforce.

We also consider inclusiveness of state laws in areas like protections against discrimination and voting rights. That’s not politics, it’s business.

Teachers are like a lot of public professions. Always asking for more money. They need to be restrained by fiscally sensible people.

People vote against their own interests.

These "studies" are always joke. Its a group of people with a political agenda trying to justify the shitty state they live in. You couldn't pay me to live in most of the states they claim as the top 10 states to live in. And it is ironic that they just throw the border states under the bus and try to be inclusive.
