The ten worst states to live in according to CNBC annual study

These "studies" are always joke. Its a group of people with a political agenda trying to justify the shitty state they live in. You couldn't pay me to live in most of the states they claim as the top 10 states to live in. And it is ironic that they just throw the border states under the bus and try to be inclusive.
Probably a better metric….

The list is funny. Basically saying Gen Z and Millennials are racist as shit. They hate “the country, and love the coffee shops and shopping offered in places like Portland, Maine and Montpelier, VT, but don’t want to have to deal with the minorities that come with places like Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa and Miami. What a group.

Lol…They want diversity so much, all of their favorite places are whiter than a snowball in rice.
Those are rated as the best places for quality of life. Younger well-educated people prefer big diverse vibrant dynamic cities, not coeur d'alene or waco texas. Diverse places have the best economies and tax bases too.

So laughable that white people accuse other white people of being racist against racist white people. No. Tolerant people prefer other tolerant people, not hateful violent people. Most people just want to get along, be responsible, know the truth. That's how democracy works. The GQP hates democracy, hates diversity, hates women's rights, hates community, loves guns, war, ignorance, and coup d'etats.

President Eisenhower was a republican. He supported universal health care, big social programs, presided over a tax system whose top bracket was near 90%, presided over corporations that on average paid CEOs only 20 times what a janitor made (today it's 670 times difference in salaries), and he was against the military industrial complex, etc. What happened to that respectable republican party? Have they gone insane? Is Trump their god, cult leader, golden calf, idol?

No kidding…folks moving here in droves but it’s 11th worst🙄
Funny how people cite census data that look at population changes from 2010-2020, when most of those years were under President Obama. It was a different time then, economy growing, more investment in future, more tolerance, gay marriage approved by SCOTUS, etc. People felt safer everywhere, not just in blue states.

Things have drastically changed under trump, and especially under SCOTUS in the last year, and the past couple years of the reign of Gov Ron DeFascist who continues to make florida an even more miserable, cruel, and intolerant place. Educated people are already leaving the red states, especially women, people under 40, etc. But that data won't show up until the 2030 census. Don't people know how data work and how old the data are that they cite?

Yeah…all of that. Except the places these super enlightened Gen Z’ers seem to like the least diverse places. Maine, Vermont and Hawaii. 2% total black population. So diverse.

That's true, and good point, but again, this study wasn't talking about what Gen Z and millenials like, but quality of life. People under 40 like educated, vibrant, culturally diverse, big cities and other urban areas, some of which are islands of diversity in red states. Iowa City manages to thrive, for example, under knownothing kimmy reynolds, mainly because of the hundreds of millions the university brings in for research etc., most of it from the federal government (NIH, NSF, etc.).

In other words, Iowa City succeeds despite the draconian budget cuts from the republican dominated state government and BoR, and would succeed even more if they invested more.

Even still, Iowa hauled in over $700 million in grants and funding for research in 2021. All that money fuels the local (and state) economy. But the less tolerant a state is, the more oppressive to women and minorities, the harder it is to attract talent, and that means red states shoot themselves in the foot with christian fascist and hyper-corporate and anti-people policies.

Worst places to live if you are a freeloader it appears.

As for Florida, if it is 11th worst can you please tell everyone so they quit moving here
Of course ihhawk is a Florida man. Least shocking revelation ever.
I see most of the southern border states are on there. Of course, the actual pre-requisites of the list prevent you from mentioning the fact that our open borders play an active role in their shittiness. Cool!

Anyone who describes our border as “open”, is not to be taken seriously.

“Trust “ Libs of TikTok? They post the content generated by liberals. Highlight the craziness of the woke
You’re too dumb to question your very post, calling this octopus guy and the family “the left”. And they’ve been caught lying about context over and over. I doubt you have the reading stamina or curiosity to actually finish this but…

Half a million illegal immigrant encounters in the last two months. More than that estimated to be non-encountered. It ain’t secure. Especially when they get bussed anywhere they want to in the country.

…all share something in common. Except for casino-dominated Nevada coming in at 10, One particular political party runs (and for most all of them dominates) their state legislatures, governorships, and supreme courts.

Don’t mess with Texas though. They’re the second worst.

(three best are Hawaii, Maine, and Vermont, all have very different state legislatures. Hawaii’s for example is 95% dem, 72 dems, only 4 republicans)

CNBC is no liberal rag but a moderate business media outlet, so they look at where is attractive to live so that it’s easier to attract highly educated workers.

article notes that gen Z and millennials want to live in places with good social services, public services, lots of culture, tolerance, diversity, and presumably, that also value woman’s rights. This ranking is not mere opinion, but it is based on publicly available data and common metrics of quality of life.

Seriously, Vermont and Maine have to be two of the most irrelevant states in the union. There is nothing important there to anybody else in the country. They have nothing to worry about
