An honest accounting of the “savings” to date is a few million dollars. And the costs of DOGE exceeds that. So they’re actually costing taxpayers more money.

That's actually a well known Republican tactic. It's basically what the Republicans have done to the USPS and other agencies. With the USPS under GW they changed the law to make the USPS pre-fund 100% of medical benefits 75 years into the future. At which point they complain about the USPS running in the red and try to use that as an excuse to privatize even though the made the issue. The same applies to Social Security which would be easily fixed, they however want the talking points of its long term health.

The blanket cuts they are doing will surely be used in the same manner. The 80k VA employees they release on top of the 7k probationary ones they already released will eventually be used to show how bad things are at the VA and that they need to privatize it.

When you privatize everything you are getting rid of the sovereignty of the nation for the profits and power of those with the most already. Gifting the mega wealthy with everything to own the libs is something to behold.
