I've heard the committee used the NET more strictly than expected, and valued quality away wins much more than usual. And, the Big Ten was undervalued overall - which was unexpected. Not showing up in the number of teams taken, but the seed lines were just off - lower across the board.

For sure. VCU at 8 was a pure NET play. As was Seton Hall at a 10 with a bunch of quality wins but a lower NET. Crazy stuff and hard to predict year over year what to expect from the committee.
