The nail in the coffin? Dude that program is still running. The only thing they were able to get rid of is the tax penalty for not buying insurance.

and that right there was the nail in the coffin. no threat of fine, no masks. no threat of fine...no pay insurance premiumsThe nail in the coffin? Dude that program is still running. The only thing they were able to get rid of is the tax penalty for not buying insurance.
Part of the problem with comparing any decade to the 1950s is that the US was one of the few industrial nations that hadn't been bombed out a few years before. Most of Europe was a pile of rubble and we were untouched. That gave us a huge advantage.

When the dust settles, it will be China that suffers the most from this pandemic. In fact, in time I believe it will be determined that China made a deliberate decision to infect the world.

I mentioned that specifically because I think it is not recognized by many people. I agree with what you said.Yes like I said we can't re-create those conditions entirely. That was a part of the conditions that we simply can't bring back. Everyone else was re-building. . . we just retooled our factories back for civilian goods and went to work.
well we had a bunch of GI's returning and they needed houses and cars. levittown pops up and all the subdivisions in the urban areas and all the great cars of the 50's and sports cars and muscle cars are born.I mentioned that specifically because I think it is not recognized by many people. I agree with what you said.
I got the survey in the mail the other day from trump and i promptly filled it out and sent money. not telling you how much. but it got me wondering: I wonder how many individual dems send money for biden?OiT is on some strong ass cult juice.
They knew the Virus was going to hurt their economy. They didn't want to go it alone.Source?. . . If that's true I would say you can probably claim that.
I re-read what you said and I think I got the impression that you were claiming that China invented the virus to infect the world. But if you are just saying that China didn't take precautions to protect the rest of the world after they found the virus I could potentially agree on that.
Dirty secret is there are many women who would be perfectly happy going back to a single income household where they get to stay home and raise their children. Much less stress on families and a more wholesome environment for the kids.Another inconvenient fact though is that women in the work place (which we are not going to go back on and I don't necessarily think we should) is a cause of lower wages because with women in the workforce the labor pool is much much bigger.
Assuming you're going for Trump's inauguration date, that would be January 20, 2017.

i am one of these people that thinks more money is better. I think we should cut taxes on the rich. that way maybe we can cut taxes on us too someday. Never hold a grudge against the rich- you might be one, one dayWhy would you send Trump money? Lol. Seriously. You think his campaign really needs it? Do you know how much he and his family have made off Trump being POTUS?
you are welcome, usually black and gold and myself are pretty entertainingThat was an excellent read. Thanks for posting

Link me to examples of my "cult juice" type thinking. So far whenever I have challenged you to prove your perceptions of me you have come up empty. I'm dying to see examples of my opinions being reflective of "cult-like" thinking. Happy hunting.Ironic

The great economy where half the people were flipping out after 2 weeks of shut down and 1/3 of Americans couldn't pay mortgage or rent in June? That one? It was a house of cardsyeah the greatest economy was built after Trump put the nail in the coffin of Obamacare
Our declining image has been obvious to the world since Jan 20, 2017
the significant social problems in this country are due to extremely high levels of wealth inequality, corporate interests (citizens united), lobbying, and plain old fashioned greed,
Yep.Economic conditions and family structure are inextricably linked. A society with greater economic uncertainty and anxiety—those stressors affect stability of relationships. I don’t give a damn about the demographics of the workforce. Untie health cate to employment. Get the cost of education to where it was in the 50s. Home buying accessibility. Neighborhood schools and grocery stores. Want 50s style living in the US, just with updates for some racial and social issues? Great. That’s basically what dems want, but of course they’re called extreme leftists and commies and socialists and mentally ill for wanting this stuff.
Which is why the MAGA concept is so ironic. MAGA harkens to that era... guess what the tax rates were, what the investment in public education was, what the pay ratio of execs to workers was, what higher education cost, housing costs, health care costs, etc.
I've told you a million times that sales jobs are built on emotion and feelings not facts and Trump is a big sales job and yes we vote with our emotions I admit it I don't know why you keep bringing it upFeelings not facts, Hoosier.

america is fine . a handful of cities are falling to communism. the rest of america is thriving.
those are made-up nonsense Problems by antifa and the mediaI don’t believe Republicans get to preach civility and not placing blame anymore, especially not after this administration. They tend to always bring this up right before they know they are about to get taken to the woodshed. The significant social problems in this country are due to extremely high levels of wealth inequality, corporate interests (citizens united), lobbying, and plain old fashioned greed, not because of high discourse and certainly not fatherless homes (lmao, btw).

I've long said that economically in this country, being a white man who was born in the 30's would have been perfect.I agree, but was there really a global economy to compete in during the 1950s?
IMO, America gets all the credit for its exceptionalism post-WWII.
I was thinking more like Portland and Austin Texas and Seattle and San Francisco. I would not doubt if it if ottumwa was Radical leftist communist it always was when I was growing up I've been down a while
Probably the single greatest work of art ever to grace the pages of HROT.
well it all has to do with John Morrell Meats and the unions of the twenties and thirties and the United Auto Workers Union of John Deere... nothing screams communist like unionsYeah man...nothing screams Dead Red Commie like Ottumwa, IA

like everything else the Communists do that is a deflection from what really is going on. Yes in the early nineteen hundreds there were poor conditions but that is not what the motivation is behind communism. taking over and taking control.. that's the motivation. A union is basically a communist form of government. What they do is make the government into God and replace god with the government. the unions do the same thingYes. They should just accept working in bad conditions for low pay 6 days a week. Do they hate freedom or what?
