I hope you people find some kind of positivity in your lives. As you look down on others.

I hope itā€™s not just greed. Or some other Self serving ideal.

Servitude is the face of god. And Iā€™m an atheist knowing and understanding that.

Iā€™ve been working paying taxes since I was 14 so she can sit around in her jammies doing nothing getting paid?

Nah nah nah. Get a real job bum.

I just read a bit to try to figure out what the Childrenā€™s Bureau does.

Basically came up with they create databases of resources provided by others and promote adoption.

Iā€™ve been employed since I was 11. Had a paper route. 14 was working summers in my school. 15 was walking the corn. What point are you trying to make here?
Same 11 at a paper route and worked endlessly since including military duty. The OP is a pos and joke of a citizen.

Thereā€™s some embarrassment about being 250 when I took the ADVAPS and the target was 210. Iā€™ve never been 210 after 3rd grade.

Where did she say she was doing nothing? Do you understand that people who work from home might wear sweatpants while doing so?

I understand you may lack the discipline to work while not under the thumb of your employer but donā€™t project on those of us that can.

Maybe she is a lazy bum and maybe she is not.

You donā€™t have enough info to make that case because she didnā€™t say she wasnā€™t working. She said she didnā€™t have meetings. Would you prefer anyone associated with government funding sit in meetings all day or would you prefer they get shit done and have an occasional meeting?

I believe you have the strongest case of confirmation bias of anyone I have ever interacted with. You automatically assume she is sitting around doing nothing when there is no evidence one way or the other.

You think one is more productive and accountable at home?

I suppose you'd be ok with her working from home if she was your employee and responsibility?

We know you feel as if our comments are a reflection of you working from home.

Any of us that have worked from home know what kind of distractions are there. Don't care how disciplined you are, they happen. Bring up all the arguments you want, being at home vs being with your peers at work isn't the same.

You are right in many cases, but not all.*

Furthermore I wasnā€™t arguing that. I was explaining to dumbass phenom that you canā€™t imply she was doing nothing simply because she wasnā€™t in a meeting. Heā€™s the one jumping to conclusions that assumes to be productive you have to be in meetings. That is usually the opposite of the case in my experience.

* In most major cities a commute can be >30 minutes door to door on average for 1 hour+ per day of lost productivity. Factor in time gabbing at the office, jobs that require intense individual concentration like software development or jobs with a heavy travel requirement like sales and you have a not-insignificant percent of the workforce that can be better served in spending part of their workweek in a remote capacity.

Sounds like excuses to me, travel time is the employee's problem. Her or anyone being in their jammies says it all. If being in the office is a requirement then it's part of the gig.

If you are currently working from home and resist, you might be next.

Just stop. How many distractions are there interacting with coworkers? Have you ever had an office Super Bowl or NCAA pool?

Keep at it and someday you too can be a mid level paper pusher with that attitude.

Personally I think there is a balance between office time and non office time. That balance will vary by role/situation/company culture and dynamic, what works for your situation may not work in every environment. I spent 30 years in technology and some gigs absolutely required office time and some would have been perfectly appropriate to be remote. My most recent gig was CEO of a company and we were in-office post pandemic because of the nature of the work. Now I spend my time investing/incubating startups and for most of them an office would be a silly waste of money. When those teams need to get together they do so at a coffee shop.

Context matters when it comes to maximizing productivity and I prefer to measure outcomes of what they achieve more than how they achieved it.

Please tell me the ā€œChildrenā€™s Bureauā€ no longer exists.

Itā€™s meant to help improve the lives of families whoā€™ve been through abuse. So you clearly wished it no longer existed without knowledge of what itā€™s function is.

You continually claim to be a Christian. However, your rhetoric indicates you are anything but a Christian.

I have worked from home since 1999. Almost all the people I work with also work at home. Youā€™re actually more productive. At least in my role in sales. The movie Office Space was funny for a reason.

obviously an important function, but i will say that I am wondering a bit what's the 'hook' for this being a federal function

And the machine pictured was meant to fly. Childrenā€™s Bureau sounds like a typical conglomeration of ā€œtits on a bullā€ type people who canā€™t land real jobs.

The quality and timeliness of her work are all that matters to me. If she can do that from home, who cares?
