difference between nate and mcsorley, is that mcsorley makes plays at the end, when they need made. Have yet to see that from nate. He can pile up points when the pressure isn't on, but late close games he seems to choke to often.
Lets just hope we can jump out to an early lead!
Yeah our OL can be VERERRRRYYY inconsistent from game to game and play yo play. There hasn't really been a single guy for our OL that's just been rock solid for us this year. Everyone that has rotated in has had issues or gotten beat, and badly sometimes, to allow plays to get blown up.It seems as though Stanley plays well when teams don't blitz much, or don't blitz effectively. But when he has consistent pressure, he seems to fold. Ohio State last year applied almost no pressure. Fabulous game from Nate. One week later, Wisconsin was after him every down, and it was an absolute disaster that rivaled the worst games of the 1973 Iowa team that went 0-11.
A similar pattern seems to be unfolding this season. No pressure: Good Nate. Consistent pressure: Bad Nate.
Of course, the O-line has major responsibility here, but the QB has to be much steadier, more poised than Nate has been so far when the O-line springs some leaks. And the fact is, Nate had receivers wide open all over the place @ PSU and consistently missed them badly, even when not pressured, because the pressure was in his head.
And unless Stanley comes out playing well @ Purdue, Mansell needs to get a shot earlier rather than later. If Nate can find some poise, the physical part will follow--footwork, arm action, and all of that. Let's hope he gets over the hump in West Lafayette.
Yes. But I think Stanley when he leaves Iowa will be one of the greats that has played here. People grow and mature at different rates, and I fully expect Nate to grow and be great. He shows moments of being a great QB, and moments of not so much. I think there will be a time when the Nate doubters will be singing a different tune. When? LOL If I knew that I would be consulting all the big boy programs, along with the NFL. LOLFair. But before last Saturday, didn’t you hope you had one?
just like KOK - reviled, and now who many blowhards want the reigns turned over to on OYes. But I think Stanley when he leaves Iowa will be one of the greats that has played here. he had the huge run to put them on top, where they stayed....Actually, McSorely didn't make plays at the end. He had a pick six late and then when the returner gave PSU excellent field position, they didn't get a first down and had to settle for a field goal. After the interception that Stanley through, PSU was forced into punting.

he did something when he NEEDED to.....
so easy TD there if that was stanley right?Ok, he ran through an open hole and that was in the 3rd quarter with plenty of game left. That was more of a function of Iowa's defensive failures than anything he did.
