And that was not it...aside from the Hawks playing like runny dog shyte...the refs were an embarrassment. Missed numerous calls down the stretch. Missed a clear travel on a 3 ball by OSU. Mike getting bumped on the next possession. And Utoff getting plowed on the final. Just total bullshit all round.

Bad calls happen all the time, for and against all teams. Good teams play through it. Teams that are middle-to-lower caliber in their conference will struggle, especially on the road.

That is what this team was predicted to be before the season started, and people just need to realize that that's what this team is. A hot January and facing MSU at the perfect time clouded that reality, but there's no denying it now. It just is what it is.

Iowa deserved to lose this game. When you have a coach who refuses to recruit a PG for 3 years who can drive or shoot, you deserve to lose. When you continue to design plays for a player who consistently gets stuffed when driving to the hoop, you deserve to loose. When you don't let either of your 2 best players shoot a last shot, you deserve to lose. When you play such lousy defense that you leave the best shooter in the B1G wide open for 2 three pointers, you deserve to lose. I'm going to start calling him Fran the Frontrunner. He's great when there's little adversity and the things are going his way, but when the winds change direction he's clueless as to what to do to right the ship.

Regardless of the play of the team, any team, fouls have to be called. If it's subjective to the way the team.is playing...why have refs?

Yep, it's called regression to the mean. It's like MG hot play early in the season. MG is a horrible offensive player but he was like a career .200 hitter who was hitting .350 in April. You know it's not going to last, well, the smart ones among us knew it wasn't going to last. Iowa was shooting over their heads early in the season with guys like Uhl, Baer, shooting at an insane level. They have no inside game, and no guard that can beat anyone off the dribble for a layup, so they need to settle for jump shots. Hard to get to the free throw line when you're shooting jump shots.
