These look stooooopid.

Looking stupid makes them less effective against concussions? Just asking. I think they will start a war in the ME though.
Honestly they should just hire the f1 engineers to solve the problem. There’s a reason ip licensing is their highest revenue stream.

There were a couple players in the 90's that wore something similar, they had bad concussion issues prior. I remember I believe Steve Tasker was one, and a Niners OL with the last name of Wallace (?) was the other.

Never had an issue after getting the external padding.

All those helmets would do is make players think they can hit and take hits harder with their heads

My daughter sits in a national board of helmet manufacturers. She has for a little over 5 years. her novice opinion is there is too much money at stake and too much “politics” in play for the football helmet issue to ever be effectively and safely resolved. (That was our Thanksgiving dinner conversation this year.)

Those are called Guardians. We wear them at practice. I think the study used is they offer a 4%-8% benefit max. They don’t protect the spinal cord and can’t stop the quick stop jarring of the brain inside the skull. But they do make parents feel a lot better.
