No question about it after tonight.

This team is going to win plenty of games.

That defense they showed tonight can hang with anyone in the conference.

Not worried at all about lack of height.
Not as long C Mac keeps having this much court time. Damn why couldnt' he have dropped basketball and concentrated on baseball, I am so damn glad he is done after this year.

Need to protect home court to get there. Starting Monday night..

He’s very good at all aspects of basketball except shooting. Tonight was rough in that respect. He can be out there if he only shoots 30% from 3, but 0-5 is rough. I think Kris will get more and more of his minutes, but tonight Kris was filling in for Keegan. Anyway, we went on a 12-2 run on the road against the no. 1 team in the country near end of game so hard to complain too much about Fran’s lineups in this one.

This is your best post ever……I wasn’t sure you were even a Hawk fan with your past comments and posts.

As BBhawk said do you believe now??

If tonight actually any indication going to have to play Dr Tom’s 40 minutes of hell which fits Keegan’s strength as well. Unfortunately Conner will play very limited if so. Jo bo playing time limited as well. I hope Fran can adjust to what happened tonight and see the positives and not pull the loyalty card. Speed kills!

Fran needs to play his best players, and that is unlikely to happen. Perkins should be playing ahead of both JBO and CMAC. Kris Murray should play at least as much as PMAC.

If JoshO can just play big and rebound then that is enough + Rebaca to take care of the post.

So you are a believer now?

😉
Not sure if you're being serious?

I've been higher on this team than most. Go back and read threads from last spring, summer and fall.

I was critical of a poor defense effort against Virginia because.....it was a poor defensive effort.

Theres no point in sugar coating things on a message board.

If Fran commits to defense via his PT decisions this team could contend for a double bye in the conference tournament.

I wouldn't say solid tourney team, but they certainly have a chance.
I would and I did. 😁

I think its nothing but improvements from here on.

Yeah they'll be some dud games but that happens to everyone.

They had a dud offensive game tonight.

Fran played 9 players 16 minutes or more tonight

It should stay at 9 players when Keegan comes back but it won't.

28 PMac
26 Kris
23 Perkins
22 JBo
20 Ulis
20 Filip
19 Connor
16 JoeT
16 Josh

I agree with you but I also remember Tony, Keegan and JT coming in to save our butts against MSU only to barely play the next game in a loss to Indians. Fran is wildly unpredictable

Connor was a big part of a really great defensive effort, but yes, his lack of offensive threat is very frustrating.

Agreed, I feel much better about this team after the loss tonight than I did after the win at Virgina. The defense was bad against Virginia and it was smothering tonight. No doubt the extended minutes for Perkins and Ulis played a role, but the team seemed more focused overall from the jump.

Yep.

I like the agressive double teaming of the post from the start.

Shows they're prepared to play small and can make it work to their advantage.

I will gladly eat some crow. I was very skeptical after Joe W and Fredrick leaving but this team has been exciting to watch and I believe they have a better shot at making a deeper tourney run than last year due to their defense. I loved Garza but he was a defensive liability.

I just hope Fran plays his lineups to Iowa's strength.

Last season was the year Iowa needed to break through in terms of winning that elusive conference title or more realistically making it to the Sweet 16.

Obviously, that didn’t happen. This season, NIT might be a more realistic goal.

Just don’t see a Fran coached Iowa team ever making it to a Sweet 16. Unfortunately, most of the fan base is satisfied occasionally making the NCAA tournament.

Lucky I’m old enough (60) to remember Iowa basketball in 1979 (last share of a Big 10 title) and 1980 (last Final 4).

My 20 year old son (Junior at Iowa) was not alive for Iowa’s last trip to a Sweet 16.
